Default new battery

i went out this morning to go run some errands and my car had trouble starting. after a few turn over with the keys it finally started but smelt like complete rotten eggs. after that i ran it for a couple mins and once i got to a store i eventually got stranded because my battery took a **** on me. im going to get a optima battery because im running some audio upgrades with 2 amps and 2 subs. i just wanna know which you guys would suit me better the yellow or red optima battery. would rather spend less on the red if its going to do the same thing. i no i may need to get an improved alternator pretty soon but for now i need a new battery as im going to order it tomorrow. let me know what ur opinions on them are.

The difference is going to be the amps that the battery puts out. I think the Yellow puts out more, or has a deeper cycle or something. I think the red would be enough for most people.

Check out CarQuest (seeing that you're in Mahwah, there's one in Wyckoff). What you need is going to be a battery w/ a larger amp rating. They also have high performance batteries too, which are probably cheaper than Optima. Here's a link:

I am on my 3rd year with my standard battery from them, and that hasn't failed me, whether it be the summers here or the winters in upstate NY.

Yellow is a heavy bastard. I used to have one till it finally died 9 years later. It was in my F150 then I swapped it over when I traded that in for the mustang. I have a red top now and its 11 pounds lighter and works great. I also have one in my 1954 MG as well. Great batteries.
