I'm Cutting Holes in my Hood
I'm installing my Aerocatch hood latches. I had to make little brackets to move the pins forward and that took a bit of time. I took my sweet time drilling the holes underneath the hood for the pins to slide through. Now I'm dreading the part where I have to cut the carbon fiber. Not looking forward to it. I will try to post up pictures at the end of the week of all the work I've been doing to the car.
Any words of advice?

Masking tape over the whole area to be cut on and use a cutoff wheel. Let the wheel do the work, don't press on it or you'll get strands hanging. A little clear nail polish on the edges will help seal it when you're done.
If I spend this much attention to detail with my homework, I'd have a 4.0 gpa. I have drilled one tiny pilot hole in the CF layer to line everything up. I am terrified that I'm gonna **** it up somehow. The hood has such a high angle that it really worries me. I sit there for 30 mins at a time thinking about how it could go wrong and how to prevent it, and then do a step. I could have it done today though if I just have at it and nothing goes wrong. My Chem. professor says every atom in a molecule is a chapter in a thesis, well, every cut on my hood deserves it's own chapter as well.
+1
that is exactly how i put mine in.
Cut-off wheel is working beautifully on the CF, very smooth. All I can say is, thank God I have a lot of experience with a Dremel and fiberglass (making the fiberglass subwoofer boxes that PCola has now). It looks like it's all coming together now. It's stressful cutting the hood like this. I am taking a break every thirty minutes, sorta like how my Dad used to have to do when he built missles.
Edit: My Michilen Pilot Sport 2 tires arrived while I was outside in the garage earlier, yay.

Got the latches in, they look great, hopefully nothing goes wrong. The only thing I'm worried about is that I didn't cut a space from under the hood to secure the bolts with the supplied nylocks, I just screwed them into the CF. I used RTV sealant on the bottom of the lip to help seal the latches, if they even need it. I could always cut from the bottom and screw on the nylocks.
I will try to post pictures soon, I took a lot.
