Help! Werid driveline issue 97 f250 any input
Riddle me this:
97 f250 5.4 triton automatic 4x4 sport
K, so Last night There was some "experimental" snowy parking lot driving a.k.a. "Snownuts" in 4 high when we decided to come to a stop and let the truck sit for a bit. shortly after we pull away we notice a very large pool of gear oil. My first thought was pinion seal, however, After further investigation this morning the leak seemed to have come from where the bell houseing meets the block. So obviously i thought well the torque convertor took a ****, heres where things aren't adding up, the truck drives fine, no werid shifts or lag, and even werid-er the fluid levels seem to be within check or even sometimes above full and in the "do not add" level even though i would guess this thing puked out close to a gallon of oil. The service writer at the ford dealer and i thought possibly a kink or clog in the cooler lines. The local ford dealers transmission guy wont be back in the shop until monday and pepboys was too backed up to put the truck on a lift.
Any ideas and TIA
EDIT: 170000 miles and the leak stopped but im positive thats because wherever it came from is now bone dry

But heres where im confused, if the torque converter pissed out all the fluid wouldn't the truck not move, i can only imagine all the friction material in a 170000 TC mostly in the fluid

yes it is... if you get the tranny hot enough it'll barf out a couple cups.
btw, gear oil isn't red. It's usually tan or black/brown after some use. Redline has blue and red and royal purple is duh, purple.
ATF is red, it's not called gear oil. Consider yourself slapped with a dead fish.
