Default Need EGR tech help (non mustang)

My wifes 02 mountaineer V8 threw a non functioning EGR code and I was wondering if it's possible to clean it out or if I should just buy a new one and replace it

What code was it? I have had multiple EGR issues on my fords, and the only solution I have to use was replacing the DPFE sensor.

I think it was P0401 egr flow insufficient and I think you may be right about the sensor I did some searching and apparently it's a common issue

Mine threw the same code. Just replace the dpfe sensor and you'll be good to go.

I would pull the actual egr valve off and spray the crap out of it with carb cleaner. I do that every once in a while to keep it working and not get full of carbon. But DPFE is what usually gets full of **** and you can't clean them out. I had to do this to the g/f 00 focus.

I'm assuming that the dpfe sensor is the same thing as the egr valve pressure sensor

Thats what autozone has it listed as at least
