Default HorsePower Gain?

Last year when I took a trip down to California, a few months after I bought my Mustang. Of course the AC went out or I think it did. It started to smell really muggy or something gross, but still stayed some what cold.

Anyways a friend of mine suggest I just take out the AC completely. Which means my belt will have less drag. He said I could take out the Power Steering as well. I asked him (when I didn't know much) what it would do or why I should. He said that it would give me more Horsepower because that's less drag and cycle on the belt.

Questioin: How much horsepower would I get out of taking the AC out completely and putting a smaller belt on? Same thing applies for the Power Steering too.

I HARDLY EVER use my AC or heat, I try not to at least. Heat I would probably durning the Winter, but the AC I'm pretty much done with. These are things that I've just been thinking about it and it's been bugging me, I know I wont get much out of it. But I'm to curious to just let it off my mind. I doubt I would do it, well maybe just the AC.

Thank you,
Have a good weekend!

Edit: After seeing this picture it kind of makes me think more about it. HAHA
I might do the Smog Pump as well, but what would be the best out of the picture? I'm stupid I know.

Ps. Sorry for like the long story. LOL
I am looking for ways to gain more HorsePower and/or Torgue, but not trying to do a lot at the same time. I guess I'm just looking for ways and deciding on them.

Id leave everything alone, and just get a set of UDP's.
And you would have heat even if you took the a/c compressor out, btw.

Unless you're planning on making this a track only car, I'd strongly advise against taking the ac out.

I know the AC has nothing to do with the heat and I can't really do anything to remove the heat. Not that I want to, but I was just pointing it out that I try to never use the HEAT or Air Condition

All I know is my AC is going on and I find it point to fix it or anything.

What exactly is the Smog Pump? I was told it's for has something to do with the emissions or something. I already don't have the catalyist converters and I misserable failed the emissions crap. If it is what I think it is, I don't think I need the Smog Pump.

A smog pump sends fresh air into your exhaust to help burn the gases more efficiently. If you don't need to pass emissions, it's unneeded and will actually clear up room in your engine bay if you get rid of all of it

Yeah well we need to down here, but not in small towns. I had to register my car at my other place in a little down. They failed my car and said it's really bad, but that's how I got the car. So really the Smog Pump is pointless, not like it's going to help.

If you don't need it, get rid of it. It might free up some horsepower and make your engine work less to turn the belt, but it will make working on your engine much easier since it frees up room in your bay

Hahaha. Hot as **** in oregon? When I lived up there I never saw it past 83.
Now....cold as ****....thats about right.

But anyhow, if you take the smog pump out, wont the exhaust be blowing out plumes of smoke? Just wondering.

+1, I think so. I see cars every now and then with WAY out of date inspection stickers blowing smoke all over the place.. not sure if they are burning oil or if it's something with their cat's or both.. Most out of date sticker i've seen driving on the road was over a year expired.. lucky for them no cops saw them poluting my atmosphere!

And what kind of gain are we even talking about with the ac/ps/sp delete? like 1-2hp each? not worth it unless it is a considerable gain, except maybe the ac since you don't use it OP

We don't have Inspection Stickers and if we do I've never seen them. My 2004 Dodge Durango 5.7L V8 Hemi Magnum went through DEQ aka Emissions, passed and I didn't get a sticker or anything.
My Mustang doesn't smoke or anything bad, just smells bad, but not as bad as bio diosel or whatever. I hate thosea trucks or even cars, they smell so freaking bad, UGH. My car wont pass because I don't have Catyalic Converters and that's how I got the car. They also said that my smell or whatever that crap is called is pretty high, but he said it's suprising my car doesn't smoke or anything.

Yeah I wouldn't do it if it wasn't much of a HorsePower gain, but I was just curious and I wanted to get it off my mind. I'm being stubborn about it so I had to question it and I'm learning new things while I'm at it.

What does OP mean?
EDIT: I'll see if I can find the papers I got from when I took my car in to get tested. I had to do it to get a title change and change the plates from Washington to Oregon. Since I couldn't pass I just said screw it and registered it at my other ouse in La Pine, Oregon, small little town that doesn't require any DEQ aka Emissions test.

If you will only do it if it gives you decent horsepower gain, it won't so don't do it.

OP means "original poster"

Leave the PS alone. It only draws power when you turn the wheel and the amount it draws isn't that much. Same goes for AC, it only draws power when it's on. However, there is a weight savings if you remove everything that's part of the AC system. If it were me, I'd only get rid of the AC, unless it's very hot and humid in the summer by you.
