Default stang overheated

Well im currently trying to figure out why. this morning as i drove around 65mph, smoke came from inside the hood and once i pulled over, turned the car off, my antifreeze spilt all over the place. temp gauges were normal and engine oil looks healthy. any opinions of what caused this and if any serious problems might have happened?

that's strange, maybe your thermostats stuck closed. don't know if that would have any thing to do with the gauge looking normal.

Are you still running the stock PI intake? Maybe it cracked. I'd double check the hoses, especially if the temp gague was normal. When you pulled over where was the coolant coming from? If you couldn't see try filling it up again, drive it a little and then let idle with the hood open while you watch for a leak. A blown head gasket is a possibility as well especially if you're running boost.

If temp gauge is normal and you have coolant then you have a leak somewhere. You need to get the car hot and then park it open the hood and find the leak. I had the coolant hose that goes from the back of the motor (Passenger side) to the firewall for the heater core bust on mine a few years ago and ended up toasting 3 coils and my EGR valve. So be sure to find that leak asap.
