Default Waste of time?

Hey, I just got my first mustang and was referred here from a guy who says this site pretty much has all the experts I need for mustangs. So my first newbie question is, is it a waste of time to mod a 97 v6 mustang. I mean I know there are cobras out there but I really want to see what you guys think? Thanks in advance.

Someone said we are experts? Damn!

Uh, really it depends on what you want to do, and how much $ you want to spend, and whether or not at the end of the day if you'll regret the fact that your mustang has 6 cylinder instead of 8. Most people with V6s just stick to appearance/cosmetic/suspension mods, but there are plenty who add go fast bits. Your mustang has a single port intake design so you have less power than the 1999-04 V6 mustangs, and a 2.73 final gear ratio opposed to the 3.27 ratio of the 99-04 stangs...which makes your car slower thaan a fedex truck. It all depends on you.

Well you sound like an expert, anyway, I have saved up 4 grand so I guess what would be a good mod besides gears which I am already installing for speed wise.

I would suggest you look into a splitport swap, which will give you about 30-35 hp, you can usually find everything you need for around $500. Then I would go ahead and get a turbo, and a T-lok and gears for your rear end so that both of your rear tires spin instead of just 1. All of that will be around $5000, though.

Okay, seriously dude. I know you're that Strider Jet guy. You're both from Texas, you both play ps3, you both work at UPS, you both have a 97 v6 and Strider Jet has one referral...hmm

I may not be the brightest crayon in the box, but I can do simple math.

Anyway, I personally gained a little respect for you to at least attempt to stick around. Most people would be scared off by now and would have run off to another site. The fact that you stuck around (albeit another account) shows you have enough cajones to deal with us...so far at least.

But to answer the question asked, it's never a waste to mod a mustang. It's all about making a car unique to you. Some people may not agree with the look you want, but it's life and people have their opinions. My questions to you start with mileage? and what kind of modding were you looking at? Styling (ext/int) or performance (engine, trans, chassis)?

Oh! and check your PMs.
