Default antenna problem

so, i kinda broke my antenna today... i was being stupid when i was taking it off to re-paint it black, and turned it the wrong way. i only have about half of a thread left to try to put it back on. so it does not work... what should i do.... i can okay reception with it off. but my stations come in and out while in neighborhoods.

i don't have very much money, what is the best way to fix this problem??

Go to your local auto parts and buy one of those things that makes threads not sure what its called just make sure its the size you need as long as the antenna has some thread left on it it should screw. I've done that to my dad's machines when parts break inside the threads. If its solid use a small bit to drill through it then use the thread maker bit.

well my stock antenna is cut to roof level, so its basicly a free shorty...

would it work, to pull a wire up through my car and have it hang out a little about my rear view mirror, then just have the stock mount, since i don't have the money to fill it in??

I don't think you can do that, it needs some kind of metal to through a singal out. I took my antenna off because I don't like how it looks, sticking up in the air. I just have the mount and my stations come in just fine. Before I didn't have the mount on and it was shitty.

If you broke the bottom of the attena off then you need to get a new one so you can screw it back in.

well actually i was going to use the same concept as a desktop radio. the wire will have copper in it, and in reality it should get me better reception than no antenna...

and technically the antenna does not throw a signal out, it takes it in, the radio frequencies are waves through the air, the antenna picks them up and transfers them to the radio that makes the radio waves into sound waves that we hear...

oh, and if i were to get a new antenna, how would i go about getting the old threads out of the base?? do something like get a flat head screw driver, hope it finds a grove and unscrew it that way?? or is there an easier way?

needle nose pliers might work, but its kinda deep down there.. this sucks, maybe i should have payed more attention to what i was doing, instead of saying, "WOW this is hard to get off" and then using more force, until it finally came free..

Your not the only one to do it, the bottom of mine is broken in there too lol. Was taking it out because I was tired of looking at it and I never used the radio anyways. It was extremely tight for some reason so I thought if I used a lot of force it'd just loosen up. Ended up snapping the bottom part in there. Never got around to fixing it because I never used the radio, but now my cd player (mach cd6) decided it doesn't want to read discs anymore So now I'm stuck without a cd player or radio till i decide what new cd player I want lol. Lucky me.

Not really sure how to take it out, I just figured to replace the whole damn thing.

wow that sucks, i just use the radio, because i am too cheap to buy cd's to burn some of my music on.. but that does suck for you.. i was just kinda wondering if i could rig something up to hide my antenna so to say, still have the base, but not the antenna coming out of it...

lol I did the same thing on my dads 97 cobra when i was 10 haha. He let me put on the antenna and i tightend it to much and broke off the threads inside. He just took a tiny bit and drilled it out, just try not to tear up the threads and if you do just retap it.

SxyXc- Does the sn195's have the rectangular black plastic piece that covers up the antenna base? Reason for asking is assuming they have the same type antenna base as the 197's, I have the base, without the black plastic trim piece, at work in my tool box. Fasten it to the fender, remove the wheelhouse liner to plug it in, and all youd need is a shorty antenna...or as far as that goes, I got a 29" antenna that is no longer in use also.

No biggie, but if it would help, im more than willing to get it the hell outta my toolbox.
