The air filter is the K&N I was talking about right? Someone said I should do the Spark Plugs and the wires for them. How do I change the fuel Filter again? I actually don't know. :/ I'm going to do everything my self, not taking it in. Isn't detailing just cleaning it up and everything? Do you know what type of performance I should get for my tune up? Saleen did take some cobra models and do the Saleen work on them like all the S281 cars etc..

Autozone parts are bullshit at best. Here is a nice kit with everything you need to do a nice tune up on your car.

Yeah I don't like AutoZone, I don't even go there to get anything. Do I need the PCV Vavle and Fuel Fliter? I think I will go with choice two since I'm constantly racing and what not. I just need help what to do for a tune up and where I can get it.

 

Considering you have no idea when they were changed I would go with number 1 as number two is not gonna make you faster, in fact neither will. Unless the car is running very badly because it needs new plugs etc.. then it will become faster.

I would do the tune up kit and then get a new air filter - a K&N would be best. Like Spike said this isn't going to make you go faster unless it's been a reaaallllly long time since someone has changed any of this out.

None of it should be hard to do at all. I'm not sure as to where exactly the fuel filter is on your car, but all you have to do is loosen the clamps holding the old one, replace it (making sure the flow is in the right direction), and then tighten it back up. The plugs and caps are simple replacements along with everything else.

 

So what about the cap, rotor, and PCV?
Can I get them some where I don't have to order? Probably save me more.

 

Actually, things are usually cheaper if you buy as a bundle rather than separate. If you're getting part of it shipped why not have all of it shipped from ford so you know it is completely right. From what I've experienced the computers at any automotive place are P.O.S...For my SVT Focus they gave me the wrong alternator four times. Four times!!! There aren't even four different alternators for the focus!

I'd just get the tune up kit that spike linked and call it a day.

They might not have to order the filter. If they have it in stock, there should be shelves where the filters are. There should also be a book where you look up the year, make, and model of your car and it will tell you the model number of the filter that you need. You just find the one you need on the shelf.

What I mean by selling my car soon is like next year sometime, I'm hoping towards Tax return, but depends on if I can find a Cobra I want with a good Price.

 

The paper filter that Spike is talking about, all you have to do is just buy the K&N filter from an auto parts store, take the old filter out, and put the K&N one in. Don't worry about a full intake or anything like that. The K&N filter will do the job just like a full aftermarket intake would, but it would be cheaper. As far as I know (and I don't know hardly anything) about cars, it shouldn't have anything to do with ignition wires.

Good luck on finding a Cobra at a decent price. I'm 23 and I looked for a Cobra for a good year and couldn't find one under $23,000. That's when I got my '05 GT for $20,000 (Woot!). Also, good luck at finding insurance at your young age for a 4V V8 with 390 or so horses without getting raped.

Just keep what you have until you know you are financially stable enough to afford a more powerful car. If you do plan on selling it some day, don't do anything too drastic to it. Just do little things to make it perform a little better without breaking the bank.

 

Um there is a guy by me that's selling a Cobra for about $9,000, clean as hell. I don't care about Insurance and I'm only less then 3 years younger then you. haha

 

Oh yeah I paid $3,500 for my 1995 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 mainly stock and it's worth over $7,000.

 

Well, how was I to know that? Most 03-04 Cobras in my area go for between $22,000 and $26,000. Is it a 99-04 Cobra? I'd be weary of that price, unless you know the guy that is selling it and you know it is good shape.

Cool! Good deals are awesome. I paid $1,500 for my 4 cylinder 1993 Mustang almost 5 years ago and it's probably only worth $100 now, hahaha! It was worth about $3,000 when I got it, but now I know there is a reason I only paid half the price. I have put over $5,000 starting from about a month after I got it, into the middle of this year, into that SOB just to keep it running. Hence the reason why I got my '05. Now I just spend my money on modding that one and drive the '93 when I have to go to a heavily populated area!

 

No I am talking about a cheap $10 or so paper replacement air filter from a parts store tossing that in and moving on. If you are going to sell the car in a year do not mod it, just save your money for the other car you want.

Order the damn tune up kit as your car clearly needs it, and get the new air filter and do the tune up and see how it is.

Also when you get the air filter have them run the codes again and YOU write down what codes (they will be a letter fallowed by some numbers) come up and tell us what they are and we can help you figure that part out too.

I just got done replacing the Mass Air Flow Sensor, the whole tubbing part was so much cleaner and nicer looking then mine. But the box where the sensor is on looked like ****, mine looked newer. That cost me $30.00

I as well just got done replacing the Air Filter, exchanged it with a new one. I went and bought a K&N Air Filter for $50.00, I could have got a discount, but didn't want to wait. I found out I have over $1,000 in my bank to spend, random. The new Air Filter was a b**** putting in because it's new, but looks nicer.

Here are pictures of my old filter. The rubber seal part was like bent in, towards the middle like a cone, it was time for a change.



Ps. I got the K&N filter because it will last longer, I do a lot of driving, traveling, and racing. I have not yet to test drive my car to see if the problem is fixed or not. I explained more in the other thread.
