Broken ring and pinion bearing
#3
I've had a pinion seal go bad.
I honestly always wondered why they sell those upgraded rear end covers with the adjustable bearing supports. I guess this is why. I always thought it was reserved for the hard core slicks and line lok guys at the track. I am still waiting on my IRS cover to crack on me like I keep hearing will happen at some point.

You talking about the bearing failing? If so it happens to cars that have differential leaks and have low fluid. Happens to the F150 guys alot who go off roading etc.. and tear up the seals for the diff cover or pinion seal.

pinion seals are freaking annoying! i replaced 3 this year alone...but than again they fail because i occasionally pull 170+ on the autobahn
to the op, i dont understand either. now, you probably broke your ring which in return thrashed your bearings.
