Default Are cobra and GT headers interchangeable?

Simply put... can I use cobra headers if I find a good deal on them?

Nope.

Sorry bud, different exhaust port shape, spacing, and configuration.

Besides, you should be able to find a better deal (i.e. Cheaper) on some used GT Headers. There's a heck of alot more GT's then Cobras, and im sure someone somewhere is trying to get rid of some.

You hit the nail on the head. Its hard finding a seleciton on 96-02 longtube headers for DOHC. I would of gotten the SLPs or Bassani but they only make it for SOHC or 03-04 cobras.

Venom in regards to your post (not to hijack) I know at least Hooker lists the HKR-6229 DOHC 4V Longtube header for all Cobra's and Mach1's (except Auto.) 96-04. I called their tech department to search the part number for the 03/04 Cobra Heads, as I am doing a Head/Intake Swap this fall. The tech rep told me that the HKR 6229 is the same for all DOHC modular Fords.

The only difference between the Exhaust Port configuration's on the B Heads (96-98) C Heads (99-01+FR500*) and (03/04 Cobra/Mach1/Marauder/Aviator) is the rectangular shaped ports (read "larger") of the later heads. It is possible to use the 03/04 header on the earlier heads, as the exhaust ports on the B/C heads are smaller, and would just feed into a larger port on the primaries of the header. If you were to use 96-98 Specific headers (i.e. BBK) on the later 03/04 Heads you would have to port match the primary tubes with the port shapes on the cylinder heads, and in some cases there may not be enough material to remove.

It may be possible to mate SLP headers to the earlier Cylinder heads, but not sure if it has been tried, and I don't know if I'd want to spend 900 bucks and 6 hours of headache/work changing headers to find they didn't work. The SLP's look like quality pieces though.

BTW, what are you're plans for your car Venom.
