Default Ticking noise

Well Ive had this problem for a while and no one seems to have the same. I get a weird ticking/clicking at WOT in my upper rpm range somewhere from the engine. My spark plugs were replaced and they even seemed fine when they were pulled. They were the oems then I went to Autolite coppers. There was no change in sound or anything so I dont think the spark plugs could be the problem.

Could it be im leaning out in my upper range? I dont feel any drop off in power or hesitation or anything when its happening, the car still pulls like nothing is wrong.

Any ford techs know of this problem or has someone here had it? Its not really that loud but its noticable if you pay attention to it.

What he said. What mods? Tuned? and if so Is it tuned with a handheld tuner or on the Dyno.

I'd lay out of the throttle until the problem is solved.

Exhaust leak? My car had a bad exhaust leak on the Passenger Side header flange...not sure if you have aftermarket pipe or not though.

The only other thing I can think of is Valve tick...but the only cars I've heard of to have a problem are the early 2003 Cobras/Mach1/Maraduer/Aviator and that was due to a casting issue.

Could it be the Timing Chain Tensioners? Happens on high mileage Cobras. Have you used an automotive stethoscope to determine the source of the noise?

Valve tick is continous, mine is off beat, and the sound decible level varies a tad bit.

ive got an 2001.5 gt with 45002 miles.
