Default What to do next?

Alrighty guys time for some help. Its time for my next upgrade and I want a big freaking horsepower gain somewhere along the lines of $370. I will soon I hope be recieving my loudmouth order this month. I'm leaning towards along the lines of the SCT XCalibrator 2 flash tuner or Diablo Predator. To help out my automatic shift. But how good is it for a person that is a beginner in tuning with one of those things. Or is there a guid to work with? Looking to spend around July 11th or 12th just in time for my birthday!!!! :laughing7 Maybe a birthday discount...hint hint

Thumbs up

the xcalibrator will not give you big horsepower gains! I think you should get some gears! I'd go with some 4.10's and a 3k stall down the road!

TO be honest I dont want to gears quite yet. and if I do i'll do 3.73's. I'd like to get a tuner so I can eventuall eliminate the MIL's when I get my x-pipe. I just think it would be a good platform to build off of. Any other thoughts guys?

Yes gears make a big difference in the 1/4 mile! As far as the gears affecting my gas mileage, I don't know as it was the first thing I installed when I bought the stang so I had only had it for about 3k miles when they went in! But gears should not give you a big gas mileage loss unles you went all out and got some 4.30's or 4.56's then you'd have something to worry about! I would recommend you get some 4.10's because your an auto! However if you plan on getting a power adder in the future 3.73's would be best!

One of my big concerns is the gas.I drive on the high way a lot. how much were your gears and installation fee?ANd did you have to get your car calibrated to adjust to the new gears.

my car is an auto and you would need to get something to calibrate your speedo. consenses says that install should be somewhere along the lines of 150-250. i have 3.73's and my rpms will be at 2500 when im going between 75-80 and at 90 mph rpms will be at 3k. i used my roommates superchips tuner to calibrate for my gears until i got my predator. i only picked up a tenth in the 1/4 with gears im stuck at a 13.5. i havent drove my car in 2 months and i wont get back into it until september sometime. im serving my time in iraq. flush your tranny and put some synthectic fluid in. it may help a little with 1/4 times. i only did it becasue it gets pretty cold in DE during winter and i got tired of the lazy shifts.

Installation for my gears was $135 with oils and I have a hypertech programmer that adjusted my speedo!

I was having major problems with power loss and just to give you a heads up, you will be wise to go with sct and stay off the diablo, I had the diablo for 6 months and I have about every bolt on possible, when I put the car on the dyno and the track it was a major dissapointment, on tuesday I took the 2003 gt to a diffrent speed shop, they took the diablo out and tuned and datalogged with an sct chip, I had back on a dyno today and the car found its lost 57 rwhp, If you want a diablo mine is like new and will be on ebay shortly.

Get the gears. If anything else, youll get better mileage cause the car will be more useful in the higher gears. I love em. Best money spent on the car yet.

let me put it this way, with you getting exhaust good, get the gears.

You wanna rip a new a hole in some of the mustangs get 4.10's

I get beat by a mustang with exhaust, k&N, and 4.10's

I had a ram air, k&n, cold air mass air flow steeda, accufab 75mm and accufab plenum, shorty headers, o/r x pipe, and flowmaster super 40's.

Get the 4.10's

However get the tuner first. Get your exhaust rear sensors turned off with it, tune to your car and then when you get gears, just use the tuner to compensate for the gears so that your speedo is correct.
