Default Dyno question

Alright to start I know absolutely nothing about dyno's

anyway my friend is going to get his car dynoed in a few weeks and I am going with him to check it out. What I want to know is if there would be any benefit in getting my car dynotuned because as you can see in my sig I have only basic mods. So is it possible for a dynotune to squeeze more hp out of a near stock motor cause if they can and it will be worth it I want to do it.

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated

Yep, they can! Most Dyno shops will have a chip or low flash upgrade for your car. Your car would probably fit into the lowest tier of shop's dynotunes, and it would cost the least. But they can most certainly pull some out. In the very worst case scenario probably 15-20 hp. But I've seen them pull a lot more out than that from v6s

based on the cost I don't think it would be worth it. It costs quite a bit to throw your car up on the dyno and have them custom tune it. So for the amount of mods you have I wouldn't see the cost/gain being worth it

Can anyone give me a round about guess of what it might cost. As I said I really have no idea and I'm trying to get as much information as I can.

the ones I've been to cost about $200-300. It's not worth it for a UDP

If a tuner can pull 20 hp out of a near stock V-6, he must be Christ himself, or the current tune is dicked-up in the first place.

You might get 7 or 8 hp tops.....is it worth $600? That is for you to know.

Pay $60 and have it put on the dyno and check the a/f.

Look at his sig, though. He's get a hell of a lot more than 7 dude. And 600 bucks is WAY too high a guess. It'd be closer to 300.

$600 is including the chip.

As far as the sig comment, I don't follow.

Yea...so what if he has that stuff. The UDP's are not dependant on a dyno tune, and you will pick up a few hp w/o a dyno tune just by having a TB and a CIA and no tune. So, what I am saying is, beyond that, I would only expect to see a few more hp unless the current tune is dicked.

Going to a CIA on a 1998 V-6 is not what I would call "dyno dependant" like a 2005+ GT.

Like I said, stick the car on a dyno and have the a/f read. If it is good to go, paying for a dyno tune is a waste. If it is close, the tuner will be able to tell you how much you will gain with a chip and tune. Is 5 hp worth the cost? Is 20 hp worth the cost?

Just don't go on a dyno day, because the tuner won't have time.

Dont bother dyno tuning with those small mods done, its not worth it. You wont see 20hp from a dyno tune on a stock v6 with bolt ons.

Thanks for the advice guys I'm not going to go through with the dyno unless the price is mindblowingly low for some weird reason. I know that my friend who is going is buddies with the owner but buisness is buisness you know. I have to drive there anyway because three of us are going and the car getting dynoed is a two seater.
