I'd say if you just wanna burn 5K and cannot do the labor yourself, a basic engine swap with a rebuilt engine with decent parts is the best way to go, then build up from there. you're better off going from an import FWD with like 150 hp to maybe 240HP RWD, then make the transition to the "***** out" HP. its one hell of a difference and jumping from one right to the other is a bit dangerous; 2 totally different beasts. drive a 99 eclipse GS-T then hop into an 88 5.0 (a bit over 200HP right?) and even with about the same HP you will see a huge difference, not only in delivery but in every aspect of driving!
