Default What Should I do??

Hey Fellas,

So do you guy's remember me asking about my engine making a tapping noise? Well I took it to the dealership to get looked at today, and what they came back with made my freaking mouth drop. He told me that it is coming from the left side cylinder. I was told that there is a possiblility that I will need a new motor, but can't tell at this point. And in order for them to be sure they need to pull the motor. But get this he wont do it until i decide if I want it repaired or a new motor. So now Im pissed cause i dont want them to pull the motor if he isnt even for sure thats what it is. I also had the tranny checked for the noise it was making, and he is not for sure about that either. He was tellin me that it could be a pressure problem or could be the pump. And once again he wont know until they pull it off the car. So If im looking to get these both replaced Im lookin at about 8,000 dollars..

So now Im thinking bout trading it in for something new. I be dam if I spend 8 grand on a car that isnt even paid off yet. Option two is to find another motor and install myself maybe a 4.6 or maybe a 5.4. Ford want 4,000 dollars for a brand new motor. I know I can find it cheaper than that.

So what would you guys do?

If you are tight on cash but want to keep the stang just get a used motor and drop it in.

Start with getting mulitiple opinions from other shops as well.People make mistakes even at the dealerships. If it is major I say engine swap but ultimitly it's comes down between money and skill.

Yeah I think that's what I will do is have someone else check it out. The tapping noise really is that loud, its just annoying. Its seems odd to me that he said the cylinder head is making the noise. IDK it seem to me that the noise would get louder when I accelerate. I only hear it when Im at idle, so who knows.

Yeah I will drop it in myself before I pay them. 4 grand for a non performance motor is insane to me. And thats not including labor. I already found a motor for 450 bucks. But I want to make dam sure that I need to replace it before I go out buyin one.
