Default 99 cobra FIX

I know in 99 the cobras had problems with the cat-back, and intakes, as long as a tune. Well right now i am talking to a guy with one and he says that his was built in late 99 so it should of been properly built. I was just wondering about that?? he doesn't know if it has the fix, i told him to look for the dot (Hasn't gotten back to me) but anyways, if it hasn't he said the intake plenum and manifold have all be polished and cleaned. if it hasn't had the fix will that do?? because i want to get (when i get the chance) new cat back, and tuner.. with the polished intake would it be up to specs?? the real 320FWHP??

I think its something to do more with the block, like a ticking noise or something? I dont remember the exact details, but I know the 2003 Mach1's had this problem and ford was replacing motors alot when they were first released.

Maybe R3dn3ck can jump and give the needed details?

No it had nothing to do with a tick. The 99 cobra made alot less power then they were supposed too. Ford issued a fix and basically gave the owner ford racing exhaust (catback),retuned the computers, and fixed the intakes which had casting residue in them which killed airflow and power.

spike is correct....There were A LOT of pissed off 99 Cobra owners when they started putting there cars on the dyno. I can't remember what they were registering on the dyno, but it was a lot less than they were supposed to.
