There are 5 bulbs. Keep in mind that bulbs in there now are the standard yellow or white. The green color comes from the gauge face. There was a tread on here about doing this and someone gave a link to a pretty good write on this but I can't find it.

ok so the 5 bulbs is confirmed, but the gauge face thing is not correct according to this.

Only problem with that is you don't see your needles or any red well at all.

It would be nice though to have all blue lights in there..or red

That was is the write up I was talking about. I thought somewhere in there someone you had to sand down the back on the gauge face.

Try it out and let us know how it turns out.

well apparently if you use Tri-LED's, they are so bright they get past it...not sure so I'll try it and see what happens...if I have to..i'll just take the overlay out and sand the back of the darn thing off.

not sure why those tools at ford decided to go with green of all colors.

alright fellas...i bought r3dn3ck's 03 gauge cluster...so im gonna take the inserts out of that one, and sand them down to remove that green film crapola...then take mine out, swap the inserts, and replace the bulbs with TRI-LED's and see how it works.

gotta order some bulbs tomorrow.

not if you use Tri-LED lights.

this is what it will look like.

Anyone who wants a set of the gauges displayed below and doesn't want to mess with taking it all apart...i will have an extra gauge cluster after christmas that will already have the green sanded off the back of the overlays, and blue tri-led's put in. 99-04 only. I can do blue, orange, red, yellow, brighter green,

$125 shipped w/ your old one or send me your stock gauge cluster, and I will send you the modified one if you can't take yours out because your car is a daily driver, and send me $200 as a core charge ($100 will be refunded upon receipt of your stock gauges) and i will send the modified cluster, once I get your cluster, I'll mail you a money order for $100.

$125 for the modified gauges + core exchange (your stock gauges)

$125 for the gauges + $100 core charge if your Stang is a daily driver, and you need the replacement gauges first.

$25 is for the Tri-Led bulbs...they are $3.99 a piece and you need 5 of them, shipping on the bulbs is $5...so $100 is for me taking the cluster apart, removing the needles and overlays, sanding the green off the back of the overlays, putting the overlays back in, re-installing the needles, then zeroing the needles. shipping is free.

here's what they will look like.

the back of the overlays have to be sanded off to get rid of the green in order for the blue to shine through otherwise, the green still appears.

Looks good!

Just curious to know if you tried putting the tri led's before sanding down the back of the overlay to see how it looked?
