Default Problem: Throwout Bearing

I have 2003 Gt and the throwout bearing went bad. So I went and purchase a HD throwout bearing by Ford Racing and since I was already there I change my clutch to a CF Dual Friction and some Royal Purple MTF. Ok after all said and done I can still hear the throwout bearing when I reach about 50 to 60mph. WTF!!!

Welcome to the world of TOB. If you had asked me, I would have told you to let it be. More often then not, they are still noisy even after they are replaced.

Mine does not whine at all. My tranny on the other hand whines in 5th gear now for no reason. Did you replace the pilot bearing aswell?

just an FYI:
the TOB you bought, which is sold by Frpp is nothing special, it's a "Stock" OEM Ford TOB....nothing more.

now, most TOB problems can be traced to aftermarket clutches which are "thicker" than a stock OEM Ford clutch, this causes the TOB to stay in contact wth the "fingers" on the pressure plate....other reason for TOB noise is from a cracked, broken or worn-out transmission front bearing retainer, improper instaltion of the clutch, bellhousing and or trans....if you using an "aftermarket" clutch it IS highly recommended that you install a aftermarket firewall clutch adjuster....stay away from the adjustabe clutch cables as they do not last....

yeah, aftermarket tob's are just stock tob's first of all...i have had this problem alot with the whinning...and i realized there are some that do whine, and some that don't...if you installed it right, and it works, then that's just the way it is...i have three mustangs and after i replaced one on each of them, one whines and the others don't...but one did and i just checked and replaced the pilot bearing and it stopped...........so you might wanna check that to see if it spins or binds in certain areas, cause if it does then you have to replace it....and you need a special lil tool to take those out.....so don't try to yourself cause you'll bust it inside. hope this is helpful!

I've had issues with the OEM TOB whining when it gets hot or when the clutch is mal-adjusted. After a while it just stopped whining altogether. This time around I got a centerforce TOB as a matter of convenience. No whining so far. My Apex kevlar clutch is exactly the same thickness as an OEM clutch disc.

Old trick for pilot bearing removal: use a grease gun and keeping pumping grease until it pops out.

Chances are it is your TOB making contact with the fingers on the pressure plate. Centerforce clutches have weights on the fingers that use centrifugal force and leverage to increases pressure as engine speed goes up. This pressure also brings the fingers closer to the TOB. This is why you hear it at 50-60. I would try getting a centerforce TOB.

I also have an 03 with a Centerforce DF with the Centerforce TOB and no problems here. Maybe the Centerforce TOB is thinner to allow for a thicker clutch ?
