Default Popping slash clunk noise in driver side front end..

I have a 96GT that has a popping slash clunking noise when put into gear or taking off from a stop. Anytime torque is applied basically it will pop. I dont have access to a lift so I check a few things by hand when I jacked it up to see if it was loose and nothing. Any ideas?

*edit* It is an automagic also.

My guess from recently seeing this sort of thin on a 98... Motor mounts are almost certainly shot. If the sound is at the front end then your oil pan may be hitting the K-member or your oil filter may be hitting it. Replacing them is a bitch but doable.

Jareds98 had this problem and we found out during our massive multi-car engine swap that his motor mounts were shot to hell and that was causing his clunk at the front end. If the clunk were rear end centered or middle of car, then we could start looking there.

hey i have a 2001 gt and sometimes when I start my car I here a popping noise also. But it only does it after I have started the car. It seems to me like its coming from the engine. Could this be my motor mounts?? I do notice some vibration going on when my car has load on in it especially when the car is shifting and when my speed is around 65-70. My mechanics couldn't find anything wrong with the front end but I know something is there.

PS I have an automatic

could be any number of things. I wouldn't normally expect motor mount issues on such a new car.

do you have a cold air intake installed? the tube could be hitting your strut tower

It would help if you told us where the sound was coming from.

Right now... It could be anything. Mounts, UJoints, Diff, Tranny... Number of things...

If anything, I would guess UJoints... I highly doubt its you motor mounts... but it very well could be...
