Default Gas Leaking

Whenever I go to put gas in my tank, I can see that there is gas spilling on the ground. Now I went to a place and they said to take it to the dealer. Anyone have any idea as to how much to much it might cost me? by the way its the part that runs from the gas tank to where you insert the nossel of the gas pump, that line. I'm not sure what its called exactly.

yea it's a hose that runs between the 2, did it just come unhooked or did it break? if the car is under warranty it should be free, if not, DIY.

no its not under warranty anymore, and I believe that it broke. and i have no idea on how to do it myself, anyone know how much for the hose and where to get it from, then I could most likely get someone to do it for me

you can just look under the quarter panel. That's a steel tube so I doubt it's broken. Does it leak all the time or only after you get 8 gallons in or so?

There is a ribber grommet that sits around the hole in the side of the tank. The filler neck sits inside that grommet. If that grommet is compromised, it will leak after the tank fuel level gets above 8 gallons or so.

If it leaks all the time, then it is more than likely seperated somehow from the tank. There is one bolt on the side of the tank that holds a brace/clamp type of bracket that the filler tube goes through as it's going into the side of the tank and keeps the filler neck in place. make sure that brace is present, you should not be able to move the filler neck when you grab it.

I had the same problem, the grommet is a dealer only part. I never had to change it though, it just stopped leaking one day. A temp fix would be to buy some "seal all" and put it around the grommet. If you do attempt this make sure your tank is almost empty.
