Default Shady Cobra...

My friend just bought a 98 cobra. It came with 19in cobra rims some performance rotors and pads everything else basically stock(dunno about gears) It has 98K miles on it and he said he used to race it at the strip(about 50k racing miles) he bought it for 7k. So the first day he got it his tire popped b/c he had somehow put 18 inch tires and 19 inch wheels, after he got the spare put on he was driving home and his caliper "snapped"(thats what he said) and it broke 2 spokes off his rim, so it is now undrivable until he gets new rims and tires. So everything this guy was advertising to sell has broken and has put him in the hole. I was a little worried about him buying that since there has been so much strain on this car but he wanted it and got it. From your guy's experiance how much longer do you think this car will last?

Ps. i dont know how to post pictures but ill try to get some

I don't know of any shop that would risk the lawsuit they would have on their hands if they decided to put 18 in tires on 19 in rims and actually did it. I used to work at a tire shop and I don't even think it's possible.

As far as the rest of it goes I think your friend is stuck with an abused car that has not been very well maintained...

The tires are like 235/55 18 and he thought the wheels were 19's they might be 18's though

EDIT: tire numbers are NOT exact

honestly the way things are turning out i wouldn't doubt it. The guy claims that it is a 305 cu in engine, so either he bored it out or swapped it or is lying

dude, I'm pretty sure this is what the engine in a 98 cobra is supposed to look like. I think your friend got screwed and got a piece of ****.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing when I saw the motor. That setup looks just like a 2V. There is not cobra intake manifold. Your friend got screwed. From the looks of it, those are chrome Mach 1 rims. And I'm pretty sure a 305ci engine was on the late 80s-early 90s camaro.

Your friend got a GT with a Cobra bumper. I think you may want to advise him to get his money back. Here is my Fobra

Wow thats terrible. You should always do a lot of research before purchasing a car. Especially a used car from an unknown person!

a "47" or just a "4" and a "7"? Can you not tell the difference between a 4V and a 2V by looking at the engine. I own a '02 v6 so i dont know what its supposed to look like

you can tell by the heads/valve covers on a cobra being about twice as wide as the gt with the 2v's......the chances of it being a cobra with a gt engine, its possible but not very likely.........

If they did, they change the gauge panel out to. Cobras have white face gauges.

I see in the pic it has a horse on the steering wheel. Mine has the word cobra. On the back left side of the trunk lid it should have a SVT emblem.
