Default someone stole my car

Had a 2000 GT. someone stole it and trashed it. My question is how did they steal it without the key? I thought the chip in the key prevented that, but apparently not.

Its definitely chipped as that is why I did not use a Cobra ECU for my motor swap. I also had a key made at Home Depot and it can open the doors plus turn the ignition but will not start. Best thing to have is an alarm with paging option and GPS.

Jack- ya ur right its only for the ignition, i dunno i think on this forum when ppl are halfway sure about a good answer for somones question they just reply to the question as if their 100% sure ther right...thats proly why they gave u some crap about it..

I tried startin the car without the chip and when you crank it and it will start, run for 2 seconds and shut off and thats it might even only be 1 second but its starts an stallls really fast without the chip

The chipped keys in our cars make the ECU not activate the fuel pump when the chip is not present. So if someone wants to steal the car then they have to jump the fuel pump at the relay to provide power to the pump. Thats why the car will run for a very short time without a chipped key it burns all the fuel in the rails.

Ya,when I frist got my GT I didn't know and had on made a the true value here. The car would start for a second and die.I was pissed when I had to pay $75 for a damn key. Then when I was putting in a B&M hammer shifter I found one in the floor where you had to have it apart to see. Lucked out on the one.

yeah i know i really want to upgrade my security system on my car, like really bad. on my vert. i have seen ppl jump over the back of my car and get in the back seats when the top was down. and the alarm didn't go off. then the other day i found out all you had to do was just hit the unlock switch inside of my stang on the door and you could get in without the alarm going off...

when i get the money what do yall suggest that i look for as and aftermarket security system??

**** you're going to pull a Badfish on us..

If you don't have a CCW keep your weapon out of the reach of the driver, it's stupid but that's pretty much how you have to do it for it to be legal...

If you want something that does not include a monthly fee like GPS,get this http://www.nocarstolen.com/index.php...d=28&Itemid=32 . Only problem is if they tow the car then you will be out but thats why you want GPS. If you can pay for constant monitoring it will continuously track your car plus you can send commands to your car shut it off or unlock it like OnStar.
