Yeah, that's what happens when you let your electrical engineer friend help you w/ mechanical stuff. Anyway, just my luck, I broke that bolt loose, but now I can't get the socket back on.

Ok, after an hour playing with it, I got the bolt and starter off. Now, the last obstacle to take the manifolds off is the nut that holds the passenger side manifold in (the very last one on top, right on top of the collector). How did you guys get to it? All the other nuts are taken off on that side besides that one.

How is everything set up? Do you still have the k member on, or the midpipe still on? I dont understand why you had so much trouble with the starter, you should clearly have been table to see all bolts and get to them easily. Not take an hour. Also, the manifold bolts shouldnt be hard to get to.

I got the K-member in still, but the H-pipe is out. The only reason I had problem w/ the starter is that I assumed my friend took the 3rd bolt out, but I was wrong. Would it help to raise the engine and get from the top of the car or should just do it from underneath?

Here's some good write ups.

Support the motor, drop the k member and you should be on your way.

Why havent you dropped the k member yet? Just follow my write up, you're making this 10x harder for yourself.

I don't want to drop the K-member because I don't want to screw anything up w/ my alignment. Hence why I'm doing it the hard way. Anyway, I did get it out so now I just gotta run to Sears to get a wrench o loosen the motor mounts so I can pull the old pieces out.

just mark everything as you remove it, then line it back up when re-installing.

Any tips on putting the bolts in? I can't for the life of me put any in. And yes, the bolts are correct since the nuts from the old studs thread on.

Instead of posting a new thread, I'm resurrecting my old one. Now it's time for me to put some cats in the mid-pipe but I need to know which Magnaflow cats will fit. A general dimension or part number is what I'm looking for.
Thanks for the help guys.

No like specific length or anything? Or are they all pretty much the same size besides inlet/outlet?

Just call magnaflow and ask them for the ones they use on their pipes.

Bassman,
Did you end up getting the headers on without dropping the K. How bad was it ?

I was able to get the passenger side on however, because I got it on the day before I had to go back to school, I had get a local mechanic to finish the driver side since I can't afford to have my car down for another month while I work on it on weekends. Unfortunately, I chose the wrong local guy since he charged me 10 hours of labor for one header! However, it wasn't too bad to install w/ the K-member in. Just got to raise the car up as high as you can, have patience, be able to squeeze your hands in certain places, and have plenty of extensions, ratchet wrenches, and universals handy. I have to say, the hardest part for me had to be the starter and putting the bolts on for the headers.
