Default using a handheld tuner on 2 cars

no idea if this is possible, so i'm just going to throw it out there...
my stepdad and i both have mustangs and were talking yesterday about maybe getting a handheld tuner. i thought i remember reading you can only use a tuner with one car, is this true with all tuners like the diablosport and sct?

theres no way to transfer the original tune file to a PC and save it there? why exactly can a tuner only be used with one car?

They make it that way so you have to buy a different tuner for each car. It's $$$.You can get the software to do it but it's pricey.

so if we had one GT and one V6 and one tuner, could we use the software to store the stock tunes to a pc and then upload a modified tune to each car? do you happen to know the name of the software?
