Default Thermostat and Coolant

I just got a chrome upper radiator hose and I decided I am going to flush the coolant and put on a new thermostat before I put on the new hose. For my application which one should I go with 160 or 180? I do plan on more power and its making right at 380 now without an intercooler. Also what kind of coolant do you guys go with and where did you get it from. I also thought about ordering some Purple Ice from AM but how much of that as well. sorry for so many questions.

Stick w/ the 180. When you go to something as low as 160, you start to get into inreased wear issues. As for coolant, just stick w/ a mix of 50/50 of distilled water and Motorcraft antifreeze of the right color. The Prestone pre-mix is alright too. As for an additive, I use Water Wetter which is similar to Purple Ice so I'm assuming the same amount should be used, which is a full bottle.

180, coolant is coolant IMO either the 50/50 or you can mix it yourself. Water wetter or purple Ice will be fine read the directions on the back of that it should be 3-4 capfuls per quart of coolant

if you want factory coolant, its G-05 and its made by zerex. if you want to flush the whole thing and not use g-05, get prestone in the yellow bottle, its good for all makes all models. and if dont want to mix it, get the 50/50 pre mix, just dont use straight coolant its actually harmful to the engine.
