Hello,
I just bought a beater so I can put my mustang away for the winter. My new ride is a 1989 Mercury Grand Marquee, complete with rust and snow tires. I was wondering about the engine. It's a 5.0.
Is this engine related to or interchangeable with a Mustang 5.0. I thought about taking the engine from the grand marquee and making it a project in the spring time when I can bring my mustang out of the pole barn. I'd just like an engine to work on, and I don't know what else I can do with this motor other than put it back in the Grand Marquee. Any comments?
regards,
Erik

I want to say it's the same motor (I think the intake is flopped around the other way) like the explorers. If I remember correctly, it has a less aggresive cam and the heads didn't flow as will. An explorer intake, some massaged GT40 heads and a B cam would make it a little more fun

I'm pretty sure everything in the block would be the same (minus forged pistons); but like cobra said, put an explorer intake, a different set of heads, and a cam in the engine, then put a hundred shot of spray to it and you got yourself a beasty marquee

I know it's not exactly the same, but it's damn close. My mom had a 89 Country Squire station wagon way back when. (neighbor has it now, still running strong) Anyway, it had a 5.0 that looked like it was straight out of a mustang, intake pointed same direction, even said 5.0 HO on the intake. Of course that was the wagon version of a Crown Vic basically, and it was fully loaded, so maybe they had another version of the 302 for basic models, station wagons, or Mercs, but I doubt it. Of course, this is off memory, who knows the intake could of pointed teh other but I destinctly remember the 5.0 HO plaque on the intake, it was still right side up.
