Yah so im dealing with this occasional loss of power in the Honda.
Feels like a real clogged up cat. The car starts and turns over fine, drives good, but every now and then it just loses power and almost dies, then comes back, then loses power.
my girlfriends car had the exact same issue, so i pulled out the cat and bored it out so it would pass easily untill i can get a new cat.
i drove it around, everything seemed great. i got home and got ready for work, on my way it started doing it again.
i noticed that if i start up from a cold engine i DONT have the problem.
If i go somewhere, stop, kill the engine and start up again between 15min to 1 hour, then the problem seems to manisfest again. road incline doesent seem to be a factor in this
any ideas?
im out. lol.
oh yah. this is NOT fuel injected. it IS carbed.

it started messing with me on my way home last night again. i stoppedd to grab a sixer of beer. when i got in it woulnt start. took about 10 min to get it going.
i smelled gas too. im sure that aint good.
however when i jumped in this morning to go to work it turned right over.
dunno.. gonna check the fuel lines when i get a chance, check the filters, make sure the pump is working properly..

could be.
im also thinking it might be a bad fuel pump. it might not be shutting off properly and flooding the engine when i stop the car. that might be why if when i shut off the car if i dont immediatly start it and wait like 10 min it wont start.
plus it could explain the lack of power i get. the cat has been cored out, most of the exhaust has been replaced cause it was rusty.
i might go pick up a new fuel pump and a pair of fuel filters tomorrow. i can get all of that for under 35 bucks at checker.
