Default Transmission Noise?

If I am in any gear, typically 2-5, and I am just coasting, if I push the pedal more agressively(not flooring, and this is after the transmission catches), I hear a clicking noise, an almost diesel engine sounding like click as I speed up. It only makes this sound once (it doesnt go click, click, click etc) as the tranny catches up. It doesnt make it if I just ease into the gear and it only is audible at low rpms. Is this normal, or is something wrong. Its very difficult to explain what it sounds like and when it happens so forgive me if this is hard to follow.

Sounds like mild detonation. When does this happen (rpm wise)?

It only happens when the transmission in in gear, I can hear it happen in the tranny. It will happen at any where from 1300-3000 rpm. I dont think its detonation, it sounds like a transmission noise.

I get the same kind of symptoms from my '04. I'm changing the tranny fluid this weekend with Royal Purple synchro-mesh. Hopefully that will cure the problem. Mines def. not detonation, I've changed gas to see if that had something to do with it, and didnt change anything. At times mine sounds like a whining...but like said previously....sounds like a diesel.

Syncromesh is made by GM, not royal purple...

Strange, I have never noticed any clicking coming from mine...Is it specific to the T45s or the TR3650? I don't think I would have a problem since I'm running Redline D4 ATF but it would be nice to know...

remember that we drive 25k brand new mustangs off the floor. well at least at one point. what im trying to say is that we drive cars that were built to be sold at 20-28k dollars not 200-400k dollars and these little noises you speak of are normal. unless these noises make a noise like a gun shot or something to that nature.

lots and lots of 3650's and t45's have this sort of strange ticking noise when you start getting on it. It's not an issue that I can tell...just another noise to ignore. Tri-Ax and similar shifters seem to amplify the volume but I wouldn't worry about it quite yet.

Thanks everybody's reassurance. Since I am the one who paid for the car (I'm only 17), I worry about things breaking. I just dont have the money to fix things, so I like to catch problems before they happen.
