SCT Excaliber2; What are the tunes?
I posted this in another thread so please forgive me for reposting. I wanted to move it to an area with a little more traffic.
"I just received the SCT Excalibur 2 tuner I ordered and payed for three tunes. I received the order today but inside the box there was no description of what the difference was between the three tunes. I would assume that the only difference would be in the octane of the gas I would prefer to use. Is this correct? One each for 87 89 and 92?"

Payed for 3 tunes but did you ask what tunes you wanted? I would also assume that you would want a 87 89 and 93 octane tune. But I dont have that information unless you plug it in and go under custom tunes and scroll through the list to figure out which tune is which in the title it comes up under. If not then you need to email Nick over at Mustang Tuning and ask him which one is which.

I was just wondering if anyone else had purchased this option and could explain the deference between the three. I received nothing from MTuning. I thought I would and would be able to make a choice based on listed options. I am not thrilled with the idea of having to flash the car over and over. But I will power it up and see what's listed. I just wanted to be prepared before doing so and not have to guess.

Ok i'm gonna ask you a question what options did you order and did you specify on what tunes you wanted? If so TELL ME....lol....sorry dude your just not giving me a lot to go off of.
If you didnt want to flash your computer every time you should have looked into a flip chip. But you will be happier with the X-cal2. And flashing your computer over and over doesnt damage it. I have 3 tunes and I flash between them all and they are all very different. But when you power it up like I said go to......
1.)Custom tunes
2.) And under that list tell me what comes up it should be self explainitory what each one is.
3.)And select the one you want and do what the screen prompts you to do.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't really specify what tunes I wanted figuring the fine folks at mustangtuning would have had more experience with what works better so I left it up to them. I usually try and not give advice on things I have had no experience with.
Like I said I haven't powered it up yet but will probably do so this weekend.
Quick question: do you really need to pull the fuel pump fuse?

Ok if you could do this to me is plug it in and look at that menu and under the custom tunes and tell me what each title says so I can take a whack at what each on is.
If not like I said you need to contact Nick at MT and ask him he can pull up on his compuuter and figure out what he did to each tune and tell you so you know.
(And if i'm correct you do not have to pull any fuse thats just for the early model mustangs)
Edit: Did some research for you and came to this conclusion about the fuse............
From my understanding, it doesn't HAVE to be removed.
However, some vehicles rely on the PCM to turn off the fuel pump after the first "prime" when you turn the key to ON. During the flash, the pump will continue to run, and on some vehicles, cause some extra fuel to be dumped into the cylinders and it may have some problems on the first start up after the flash. Also, if the battery is weak, the fuel pump running while the flash is going on could drain the battery below what it takes to keep the PCM alive. I dont do the whole fuse thing bacause I know my battery can hold out for the 1-2 min. it takes to flash a car. Like I said before this is mostly for the early model mustangs.
