Default Ride Quality?

Maybe this is normal, maybe it's not. My son's 03 GT is dropped with H&R Sports and running on 18x9/18x10 265/35/18-285/35/18 Bullitt wheel combo. He has never complained about it but whenever I drive his car it seems pretty rough in the ride quality department. I drove it on several occasions when it was "stock" and it didnt feel this rough. Is this just the inherent trade-off for a slightly lowered car with bigger wheels/ shorter sidewall tires?
Is there anything I could do to make it ride better? It has the stock shocks and struts as it only has 15,000 miles on the car. Again, he hasnt complained but as it is his first car he doesnt have anything to compare with.
Personally I have had a Mustang, Vette, and Z28 and this current setup is probably the roughest ride I have experienced. Suggestions would be much appreciated.

Yeah the shorter springs are always stiffer than stock, thats one way they make the car handle better. I'm not really sure on what you can do to make it ride better maybe better shocks and struts like Bilstein, I have heard good thinks about KYBs those are fully adjustable. But like i said I'm not too sure.

Gt's ride rough, (rougher than a non-sprots car) Its just how they are. Once you monkey with the suspension, you will alter ride quality. Most lower their car for looks or performance and are aware of the tradeoffs before opening the wallet. Enjoy!

Dont get me wrong, I love the car and more importantly so does my son. I was just making sure I wasnt missing something. I didnt know if better shocks/struts would do anything for the ride.

new shocks and struts will tighten the suspension so it doesnt bounce as much but its not gonna make it softer. you will still feel the bumps. like others have stated, lowering the car is a tradeoff. you gain looks and performance and lose that soft ride.

Get some adjustable shocks and struts and youll notice a big difference. The stock ones will blow out soon.

I have Eibach Pro-Kit springs with Mach 1 shocks and struts. The ride quality changed drastically with the addition of 265/35 and 285/35 18's. It is still not terrible, but it did take a turn for the worse with the 35's. Either way, I would NEVER go back to stock.

You also got to remember with wider tires, your going to feel a lot more bumps and roughness. All mustangs ride like poop, its no luxury car.

Lowering the car didnt help. The best thing you could do is a bumpsteer kit, strut tower brace's, subframe connectors, and polyurethane bushings. That could make it feel a little better.

lowering the car dramatically will make the stangs ride like a lawn mower. but you get great handling and less nose dive.
