Break in route for new motor?
Well the build will be getting started next week parts are on order for my new motor. How do I break it in when I get it back and would swapping my 3.4 pulley for the 2.9 be wise before I even break it in. I don't plan on hitting the boost until the break in is done but how do you effectivly break in a new motor?

I figured maybe 500 lite running then change oil, then another 500 mild RPM changes then change the oil, then give it about another 1000 miles change oil and she should be good to go. Damn I can't wait to get this motor done. I'll swap pulley after the break in. Maybe while I'm breaking it in I'll order a 8 rib kit so I can get rid of this belt slip. Mycar should be a beast after all is said and done.

Most of the egine si have broken in and done we do nothing over 4-5k rpms max drive it easy for 1k-1,500k miles change the oil and go. Buts its deffernt for certine things. Like my freinds ATV it has such tight tolerences we didnt have to do hardly any break in, but a motor like the stock one in our cars needs a good amount of easy driving to let the rings set ect.. before heavy pounding happens.

Definitely take it easy for at least 500 miles and change the oil at no later than 1000. Some people claim there's no such thing as a 'break in' oil change anymore. I still say they're outta their minds. As long as you've got new friction bearing surfaces that are establishing wear patterns, you've got a break in oil change to do.
