real bennefit of shocks/struts?

i figure its ok for me to ask a n00b question every once and a while

but i was wonder, what are the bennefits of aftermarket shocks and struts? why is spending 5-600 bucks worth it? j/w

why are aftermarket shocks/struts better than stock strut/shocks? heh..why is ANY aftermarket part better than the stock part? cause they just are...for many reasons.

Definately a lot stiffer, takes more to compress it, less body roll, better ride. Get the good ones the first time. Bilsteins or D-specs.
