Default Calling all 5.4l 2Valve guys

Hey guys, I'm trying to gather some research here for my winter project. I'm thinking about taking out my NPI 4.6 which makes about, no kidding, 210bhp , and swapping for a 5.4 2 valve. I've found a ton of research about this swap, and it seems very straight foward, but I haven't seen many dyno numbers or track times.
I know that the 5.4s are going to be dead up top, and thats what my car is right now. But, if i add ported heads, a nice set of big yet streetable cams, and the 5.4 HPS intake manifold, headers, and my Zex wet kit, would this thing be a torque monster , anddd pull in the high rpm range?
What kind of numbers could i expect, at the rear wheels, NA. I really want 325+ at the rear wheels NA. Let me know what you guys think, and thanks in advance!

I am suprised nobody responded to your questions yet, at the top of the Modular 4.6L Tech forum is a sticky with thousands of responses about the 5.4 2V swap. Lots of info and some guys that are in various stages of the swap. There are also some real world numbers in there. Good Luck

The sticky is the firsty one and it's titled
"Anyone interested in 5.4L Swaps, need you to opine"

Problem is right now, the numbers aren't the greatest up top due to adaptor plates. However, once the 5.4 intake comes out, that will change. However, how much top-end do you want? A 2V (especially 5.4 2V) isn't the kind of engine you wind sky high.

intake is out and shipping... www.hiperformancesolutions.com/54.html

Longtubes are the only other thing holding it back from seeing well in excess of 300rwhp and those are nearly ready for market. In fact they're supposed to be done today. We'll see.

My 5.4 pulls hard all the way to 5500 and then leans over. With the new intake and headers it should pull just a tad farther but by then I'm shifting anyway.

If you want to extend the RPM like I have then a stage 2 cam and the HPS intake and longtubes should get you pretty close. You'll need ported heads to get the 325 number you're shooting for but any reputable ol' stage 2 head should do that. Get the longtubes when they come out and you'll eclipse that number with that sort of setup.

My engine makes over 330bhp/390btq. My 4.6 never approached the same kind of grunt at any rpm.

But R3d, that still says pre-order, so technically it still isn't out.

It IS out. That just means that you won't get one right away, because he only does them in batches. If he did them individually, he would probably lose money. Average wait time seems to be around 6 weeks.

Eh, pre-ordering to me means it isn't out yet. It's like pre-ordering a video game. And it doesn't need to be done individually, just a stock pile should be available, like w/ any product that's sold.

Thanks for the help guys! I really want to hit a good 320ish rwhp N/A
I have a Zex wet kit that will also go on the motor. I figure, why am I going to mod my NPI 4.6 engine if i could go to a 5.4. Like always, theres no replacement for displacement

That sounds sick dude. Do you run the car at the track alot? If so, what are you running.

So far my car has a fully built rear end with 31 spline axles, diff, and 4.10s
My transmission is in the process of being built. Its a T-45 with the hanlon carbon lined synchros, heavy duty shift forks, and some other goodies. The last thing to do is get rid of that garbage non pi 4.6 and put a powerplant in there, Im just not too sure what to go with yet.

I haven't had it to a proper track with the 5.4 except for autox. It should probably run somewhere in the 12's on motor. It's got a shot of nitrous going in it too so 11's are a possibility.
