Default New Project: Drag Racing

A friend and I just split an '87 GT and we are beginning our project of turning her into a drag queen. The only problem is I am a 4.6 engine guy and I don't know where to start.

Which takes me to my first question, where is a good place to get a motor and a transmission? A roll cage?

Thanks

What motor are you looking to do, what transmission? Roll cage can be had from summit and comes in a box prefabbed and ready to weld on in.

the stock block is good to around 500 hp. easy/cheap way would be to slap a carb and a plate kit on it. add heads and cam if you wish, or just spray the living crap out of it.

if staying efi do not use more then 150 through the intake, it will puddle. if using a plate kit between the upper and lower, go buck wild.

light weight and a good suspension will go far.

if you're going to do NA go with a bored and stroked tall deck windsor block (Dart, World, etc..) and twisted wedge heads, set it up for 13:1 with as much cam as you can afford carb, intake and exhaust for. Fill with 110 octane and 300hp of nitrous spread over 3 stages and have fun. It's a pretty common recipe out here.

I'd consider an improved rear suspension setup.
