so... new person here. i already have a CAI on my car with Underdrive pulleys coming. i have a '98 Mustang 3.8. i plan on doing exhaust for my car. i have several options ahead of me.

option number one:

this option is a cheaper option, with a Y pipe replacement. i suspect this one is just a bolt on installation, and i can do that myself.

option number two:

this one is another good priced option. i want to know if there is going to be any welding, and if a shop is gonna be better at installing it than myself (i lately replaced my Freeze plug on pass. side..had to move starter and engine mount. took 5 hours.)

this one is the most expensive, with the Flowmasters having Super-44 mufflers.

all in all, i just want to know, cost wise, performance and horsepower gain wise, and ease of installation wise, and sound wise, which one is the best to go with? i am having trouble picking one setup, and i need a bit of help. thank you.

 

out of all your choices there I would go with option #1 except maybe switch flowmaster to MAC.

The reason I didn't pick #2 is because I've never heard an american thunder exhaust system.

The reason I didn't pick #3 is because X pipe typically means more raspy and a v6 is an even firing engine therefore theres no need for an X pipe.

So if it were me I would go MAC H pipe with a MAC catback but if your determined with flowmaster I guess I would go option 1.

after listening to some MAC catbacks, i might go with a Mac H pipe (catted) and with the Catbacks...they sound really good...

i have bassani and it sounds really good. i first heard it on a friends v8 and it was aswome so i went with it obviuosly its not the same but still better that anything else ive heard on a six.

 

i've compared Mac with the Borla(that i can find), Bassani(same amount of vids as borla - low), and flowmaster. it almost seems like the Mac mufflers were made for V6es, because they sound the best in my opinion, so i am going with mac. the question now is, to get the Y pipe kit or go with the Mac H pipes...

 

Well, although you'll have 'true-duals' if you get an H pipe, you will lose more low-end torque since our cars don't exactly create much exhaust pressure unless you've got FI.
