Default Manual V6s vs Auto V6s

How much of a power difference is there between the two? Obviously the manuals are quicker..but would a tuner (xcal2 from vmp) and shift kit put the auto on top?

This isn't a street racing question, a friend of mine just got a 2004 black V6 stang 5spd /w 60kmiles for $6500...pretty much the same car I was looking for 2 years ago but were out of my price range...so while I'm here being a jealous bastard that someone got the color and transmission I always wanted, the ego complex kicked in and I need to stop *****-footing around with appearance things and make this POS a little faster.

No, I'm not getting a GT..take that comment and stick it in your *** if that's what you're thinking.

I'm planning on going with FI late fall this year but in the mean time I need to get some other things done with the car,I always wanted to get a t-lok and some 4.10s, but I think if I got the supercharger I'd have to upgrade to a 8.8" anyway..how much power can the 7.5" take before it needs to be replaced?

These are the main things I'm planning on getting for the engine/transmission between now and May.
- SCT Xcal 2 from VMP
- J-mod shift kit
- T-lock/4.10's (or 8.8" swap and 3.73s)

Do you think all of this stuff would be worth atleast 1s in the 1/4 mile?

GT's run for about 16-18 here depending on mileage, mach1' start at 19+, havent seen an 05 GT for anything under 23k here.

Thank god i dont live where you do, resale sucks out there. lol ill still be taking a several thousand dollar loss on selling it, but i can recoupe that cost pretty quick without the payments.

Im pretty sure i can get 17 around here, i see higher mileage 04's for sale for more. Occasionally i see one for less, but lets say im not exactly begging to kick her out of the garage.

We have buttloads of rich people down south, i could probably even get 18-19 if i keep taking it down to the malls in the rich areas and put a 4 sale sign on it. Mommy and daddy usually dont mind spending a few extra dollars for billy to get the one he wants.

It doesn't take too much to beat out a manual v6 PCola.

The tune alone would probably take a stock manual 6.

Our transmission I think will handle quite a bit until it craps out. So don't worry too much about that..

A manual 6 isn't a hell of a lot quicker.. the only thing that gets us is the shift points...and if you re-tune, you can have those adjusted =)

lol...

Eh... trust me, yer better off having parents that dont get ya whatever you want.

gawd, i checked, i still owe 19,312 on my car, Even selling it for 17,00 im taking a 2,300 loss.

I swear i will NEVER financing ANYTHING again as long as i live. I love the car, but damn. ***** expencive.

I really want to get an old 5.0, pay it cash and OWN it. Then upgrade the hell out of it, even on a 400 a month budget for upgrades ill STILL have more money in my pocket.

You dont have to upgrade the 7.5" with just basic mods or even a blower or small shots of nitrous (100hp or less). It will handle it on street tires. However if you want to run at the track with sticky tires it has to be upgraded. So figure out how you want to go about that.

Would the 7.5" hold up okay with say 300rwhp?
I don't plan on ever using DRs

teat was using his with a little more then that for awhile then with the TT kit he still had the 7.5" in there. It didnt break till he went ot the track with it on high boost. For a car that wont see drag radials its not a problem.

Mines a 1998 auto and my buddy has a 1997 manual and he can't win even against my weak mods I don't know what the difference is like in your year but the manual really is only just barley faster I bet in the quarter mile he'd get maybe a car length on you if you do absolutly nothing

Not even a car length. A buddy and I were toying around (hitting 0-55) on the streets at the lights...I'd stay to about his side mirror..

Remember though...if you buy gears and a posi..you'll need a tune so you'd might as well go in one large package.

Would you need a complete re-tune or just a speedometer recalibration?

Speed recal I believe.

Idk how it works.. but you'd need a tune for our cars, I believe.

yes youll be fine im still on my 7.5 rear.

i run daily with nitto 555R's. you wont break it unless you launch high. ive launched with 3k-3.5k rpm's off line at track with 332rwhp.

btw i said the same thing about DR's now they are my street tires. regular tires, well i could prolly catch fire to them before they got traction. LOL(joke btw)
