Default good deal??

ok, i have been talking to this guy that i found on ebay about his car.. the original price he wanted was 10,000 well he didn't get what he wanted and told me if i get the money in the next few days he will let her go for $9,400
its a 99 cobra vert. (almost exactly what i want except for tan interior)
the only thing that makes me wonder is when talking to him he was not 100% sure about the recall he bought it used and said that he check and it should have be fixed but he wasn't 100% sure.. but it does have a polished intake so that should be the one that helps the most.. (and if need be i have some flows sitting in the shop i can put on just to change the catback) and i was planning on if i get it to buy a tuner asap..
here is the link to the ebay page..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...TQ:MOTORS:1123

best part he lives about 4 1/2 hours away.. so i can drive the car, and inspect it
bad thing is the cracked plastic piece by the wipers...

is it a good deal?? (if i can convince my granddad aka the bank/current car title holder??)

I'm not into verts, but here cobras seem to go over kkb. I think its just an okay deal. If you want it buy it.

I'd think of it as a great price as long as it shows no signs of being flogged really hard. fly me out and I'll look it over for you.

actually i was thinking about sending my uncle that way, he lives aobut an hour away... he also use to be a car sales man and so he knows what to look for if goes up to it...
but according to kbb its more than $1000 cheaper than the price it says... i would call that a deal!!

The intake was the really bad part. Your going to want to swap the stock catback out for something better anywhere so who cares if it has one or not (please dont use shitty flowsmasters). And a tune should wait till you have more mods. Just gear the **** out of it with 4.10/4.30s if your staying n/a.

What year was it that had a bad head? Was it a cobra that had the head problem?

early 03 cobras had a coolant flow problem. This caused the tick and ford reworked the coolant passages to fix this. If the cobra has the fix then the driver side head has blue paint on the side of it.

okay, so on the intake, if i get the car, would i have to pull it off to see if there is still casting in it?? then just get it polished?? because isn't that the reason it has bad flow the molding blocked the air. becuase it was molded wrong

You can take it off and look. It will be smooth to the touch. The factory non fixed cars have ruff casting peices inside which kill the airflow, and thus the power.
