ive been a lurker on this forum for awhile and i had a quick question.

i have a 2001 v6 mustang and i want to lower it. im not looking for any performance upgrades, i just want to give it a meaner more aggresive look. what springs should i be looking at, and how much of a drop should i go for?

 

ok ive been looking at these, http://www.mustangtuning.com/forac.html . are they somthing i should consider, anyone have them?

 

I ahve the Steeda Sport spring only becasue of the road condition around my area... it gave me a 1.5' drop all the way around.... but I would have gone with some H7R spring for a lower drop... here is a pic with the Steeda Sports:

 

those are good springs if you just want a small drop without having to replace other things like caster camber plates. they shouldnt affect the ride too much.

yea i used to drive a firebird and that thing was nice and low. i just dont like the height of the stock mustang, but i cant afford to re do my whole suspension. will those springs make a big difference?

 

what size rims you got 18's???

 

for a V6, you can cut a coil off stock 03/04 cobra springs or use B springs for a good ride and a little (.75") lower stance. Other than that I think C springs are way too high a rate for you since you lack the extra weight of a V8 and they're fixed rate which makes for kinda a rough ride. I would probably go with something progressive like a set of FRPP B, F or G springs. For you I'd probably be looking toward the FRPP F springs for a good mix of upper end firmness and comfy ride. They'll lower your car about 1.25" all the way around and give a nice mean look.

If you can't find them anywhere else (MT) then my buddy Ken over at www.speedconcepts.net can get them to you. I'd also advocate picking up a set of used Bullit or Mach1 shocks and struts or even some bilstein struts from an 03 cobra and tokico shocks for the rear.

If you don't have a rear sway bar, now's the time to look at slapping one on so you can loosen up the rear a little and correct the at-the-limit push that you're sure to experience otherwise.

Forgot to answer his last question. You should be looking at between -.75" and -1.5" front but no more unless you want to make other changes like bumpsteer kit and CC plates. Then in the rear -1" - 1.25" gives a nice rake and a mean stance. Any more than 1.5 in front will give you alignment problems and tire wear troubles you don't want to deal with. Much more in the rear and it handles really skittishly at the limit.

 

Yeah they are 18x9 's all the way around....
