Default Powershifting and Sprayin Baby!!!

I am heading to the track at the end of this month. I wanted to know if it would be OK for me to powershift?

When I usually powershift while N/A it bounces off the rev limiter alot. I want to powershift while im spraying too. I have the window switch so it cuts it off at 5800rpms. Would I ever get traction powershifting on street tires w/ spray at the track? what about with slicks?

Would all this hurt my tranny or clutch from just a couple passes down the track?

Also I will have prolly 4:10 gear soon.... maybe I can get it to stand the front end up off the line.

i have 3.73's, if i powershift from 1st -2nd, and 2nd - 3rd, my tires break loose. so yeah, youll definatly lose traction with spray

If you have a window switch it will be fine the nitrous will be out of the motor by the time you are gonna shift. I have my MSD setup where it cuts the spray off at 5,500rpms this is when i shift. I powershift every gear its fine. You just wanna make sure its low enough were the nitrous will be out of the motor. I would most likly pull it down to 5,600-5,700 rpms to make sure its out of the motor.

And you should powershift your car will run faster if you do fast enough and are a good driver. when i was stock i dropped 2tenths from power shifting alone. in the dead heat of summer over a year ago here it was a 100* day i was running 14.5s-14.4's @97 i only changed to powershifting and dropped it down to a 14.29@99 just from the power shifting when it was 100% stock. Just to give you an idea.

I don't power-shift on the nitrous. I let out of the throttle about half way and shift as quickly as possible. I could possible squeeze another tenth of two out of her by power-shifting....who knows. So far I haven't seen the need to power-shift on the nitrous, although I do power-shift on every N/A pass

So your running a completely stock longblock with PI intake? Did you run a 11.50 on a 125 shot? Have you ran it on a 100 shot? Thats real fast times. Im hoping to get mine running that fast.

I wouldn't power shift with nitrous on street tires. that's just begging to slam into the wall.

wait till you at least have drag radials.

All stock longblock, stock exhaust manifolds, TrickFlow Plenum/BBK 75mm Tb (gained a whopping 5 rwhp on the dyno ),Densecharger, Steeda Pullies and that's it for the motor. My best on a 100 shot has been 11.67 @117 , so a little was gained by going to the 150 shot. I can't stress enough the importance of a good tune. I would suggest a SCT tune by Speedy Dyno on Owensboro, Ky.

How much would he charge me for a 3 tune chip?

I go to Delk cause there close to where I live and theyre cool guys but they have a bad rep for dyno tunes. One guy said he paid $700 for a dyno tune at Delk and he only gained like 15hp on spray.....

How much more power did you gain with your tune? I might really think about having him tune it. I havent even really sprayed it in over a month cause my car moves like its makin some beans so I dont wanna blow it up.

Damn 117mph is prolly 5mph more than a stock 03 cobra...... but I have the plate.....:shifty:

I know the Delk folks also, but know nothing about their tuning, except they use Diablow.......enought said:censored:

I can't quote prices for them but please go to their site and inquire by e-mail. I would suggest a SCT Xcal-2 with 3 tunes, you don't have the "switch-on-the-fly" option of a chip but the user adjustability is well worth it.

As far a dyno numbers, I'm seen 379/480 on a 100 shot and 423/553 on the 150 shot. I can't tell you what I gained from the tune because I never ran the nitrous without one Good luck, are you heading to Beech Bend with the car?

Yes definately soon. Maybe ill see you there. I cant wait to see what it runs now cause its running alot better than it was the last time I ran it. Plus now I have all the electronics for it except for the tune.
