Default 2000 GT Vortech 91 octane

Had my A/F checked and to see what numbers I made here in Arizona on the shitty gas. I'm 20 hp lower than I thought...From my track speeds and times I figure I was around 380 +/- 5 hp at the wheels.

My Graph...3rd gear wasnt locked so the first dip is 2-3 shift...the 3 jump in power is my converter locking up. My lockup schedule is jacked up. I'm going to get a custom tune to see if its a electrical issue or mechanical. I'm thinkin its mechanical and will be spending some money having my converter rebuilt and re-stalled.

so this is my baseline tune.

I'm sure with a properly tuned transimission and converter I will be running 11's. I'm leaving a lot of power on the table there. Also, my A/F reading was lower then 10.3...well thats the lowest the tuners A/F meter goes.

Nice bro! Hopefully you can tweak everything to hit that 400 mark.

I wont see 400 on 91 octane...100 octane mix for sure but not straight pump gas. I'm going to have to run meth injection down here as well...I will be buying a kit sometime in April when the temps start hitting 100+

My car has already made 400 on the rollers but the tuner pulled timing to keep me from blowin up. I'm also down 1 psi of boost. I usually see 12 but now I barely hit 11 at 6k. So this is better for my car and once my A/F gets back in the 11.5-11.8 range I should see 375-385 hp and torque.

Lovin the vortech... yea, two of my friends that have ran vortechs have seen 400 with a water/meth kit and 11 - 12lbs of boost on 91. The water meth will help you out I believe.

The pic makes it look bigger than it actually is...The 4" powerpipe does make it look a little bigger. My engine hasnt been that clean since that picture was taken...I took that pic around november 2005.

The more I look at that sheet the more pissed I get...There is a lot of power left in the tune...here I thought i was running lean because my plugs are white.

Oh and thanks! the car is still faster then most of the vettes I ran on the streets, LOL. losers dont know how to drive.

Good luck getting everything worked out. On the previous 93 tune you were making 12 psi? Your intercooled right? Seems very conservative for 12 psi!

His car is an auto remember. So those numbers rock.

true...didn't think about that as I was reading...

Stanger - what intercooler are you running? I originally thought about going with the vortech and a custom intercooler setup but got a good deal on my procharger.

The temp for that day was 52* so not too hot.

The 93 tune was conservative with only 12* of timing. When he had it at 15* the car pulled 408 hp at 5500 rpms.

I run a paxton 2 core intercooler. It does work and is pretty big.

The closer i can get to 400 te better chances of me turning a 11 second pass. I need the converter to lock up sooner!

well getting a new tune today.

baseline this morning was at 383 SAE. i was just told that its sitting at 397 and he is going to make a couple more adjustments to my fuel trims. then onto working my transmisson shifts and converter lockup.

i didnt expect the car to make this power on 91 octane. this car is making freakish power for the mods and the boost is only peaking at 10

okay...finally home.

394 hp and 400 torque!

Still need some work on the AODE tuning. Rained yesterday and screwed that part of street tuning.

I gotta ask what would be the difference in power 91 octane vs 93.

is the extra 2 greater octane rating really any difference. I ask because around here at the pumps it goes 87 89 93 we don't get 91

I imagine NA would make no difference but with boost would you see significant numbers

The gas out here sucks...california/arizona has **** mix 91 octane.

Not a significant difference. We just have to run up to 3-4 degrees less timing than a 93 octane tuned car. we're only talking a difference of about 10-15 hp.

The closet station to my house has a pump that has kerosene in the winter and 100 109 and 115 Torco in the summer. It's expensive stuff but If I can get a tune for it I might test out the 115 on the svt focus someday lol

Thats convenient I wish we had gas like that on the pumps here. I can only get 5 gallon cans of unleaded race gas.
