Default Personal best,,last night at Sunshine Speedway

Well, after taking off the sway bra I have finally broke the elusive 9 sec zone in the 1/8th mile!!! I know it's not fast, per say, but I'm making progress.

Previous best was a 9.05 w/one wheel only pushing. For some reason my traction-loc decided to cooperate and heated the tires relatively decent. Launch was approximately 14/1500. Tire pressure 17psi. Anything above 2000rpm and the track wouldnt hold the tires. This should = sub 14sec 1/4 mile times. Not bad w/basically stock motor.

Sunshine Speedway. Pinellas Park, FL. Temp: mid to high 80's. Humidity: THICK!!

R/T .794 (on a sportsman tree.)
60' 1.982 (first sub 2.0 sec 60' )
1/8th 8.94 @77.04 mph

This was on a relatively hot motor. Had run 3 runs back to back prior. After cool down of hour or so backed it up w/a 8.97.

Congratulations on your new best.
Reading your siganture I cant see how a stock 95 can put down 240 rwhp. I thought those were 210-220 flywheel hp from the factory, maybe I'm wrong. Should be in the 180 rwhp range if it's stock.

Yes I do Danny, he has cold air kit, pullies and exhaust. Like I said a stock motor, he also mentions a basically stock motor in his post. Those bolt on's will not net 50-60 rwhp. I'm just curious as to if he is the orignal owner or is it possible that the car has had more done to it than he is aware of. It is not unusal for sellers not to disclose things such as gears, cams etc. which might make it look as if the car was run hard. At any rate with 240 rwhp, 4.10's and traction that's a low 13 second car he's got.

Im questioning those numbers too. With only those mods I would think 200 to 205 at the wheels would be a good estimate. It was 215 flywheel factory rating. Like you said, could be sumthin else done to it.

Haaa. You guys make me smile. Im telling ya that's what it did and I have the dyno sheet to prove it. Damn, I need to buy a scanner.

Ok, here's the deal: I still hang out w/the guy I bought it from and I am the third owner. He swears that nothing has been done to the car. The heads have never been off. This car also has approx. 137k miles.

Funny thing is, this car is stronger than my previous 95 and that also had a bigger TB and mass air. I swear to you that all that is on the car is:

MAC cold air
Stock TB
Stock MassAir
Stock Intake
Stock heads
Stock cam
MAC UD pullies bypassing the smog pump
ALL smog stuff removed, holes in back of heads blocked
MAC shorty headers
MAC off road H
Borla (hate it) cat-back
3:73 gears
Nitto 555r D/R's

240HP 307TQ I AM NOT LYING!!!!

Yes, the 94/95 came rated at 215 and I know for a fact (buddy has one) that completely stock except for a K N air filter he dyno'd at 187/280tq. I dont know why this is so strong, but I am pleased w/the numbers. Really pleased since you guys say that it just cant be possible. Oh, the timing is at 14deg.

Im not saying its not possible. Just in Q. Your car must have been built on a Wednesday.

is this a manual transmission car? my automatic pulled 234.24 hp and 271.38 torque (see mods in signature) and is slightly slower than this car in 60 foot and 1/8 mile times

Default ok I replied to quickly

after reading the origianl post again,I see he has a manual trans with all the talk about launch rpm's. I also just remembered he has a 5.0 litre engine wich is a torgue monster compared to the 4.6 I also would like to see those torque ratings posted. I believe that with the listed mods and 3.73 gears on a 5.0 these in fact are very realistic numbers. my estimate for 1/4 mile would be very low 14 or possible 13.8 best.

We were not questioning the numbers you claimed, just curious because the hp number is very good for just a few bolt on's. I wondered if maybe somebody had snuck a mild cam in there at some point. At any rate I think you just need to get your 60' down and you will be solidly in the 13's. Good luck and keep us informed on your progress.

Yeah, I know you guys weren't questioining me,,just thought I'd reply. Yupp, it's a 5 spd. Car must have been built on a Weds.

Where we race the track can be very inconsistent so Im still trying to figure out the perfect lauch RPM. Im not the most consistent driver either. I think what I need to do is try one thing at a time and stop playing w/launch RPM and tire pressure at the same time. At 2000 it will blow the Nitto's off. Had my best results at approximately 1300/1700RPM. When it cools off our club will be headed to Bradenton. Cant wait for the 1/4 mile times. I still say that pulling the front sway bar off really helped me get the 8.94. I think the car has it in it w/the sway bar on, but like I said,,the driver isnt that consistent. I'll keep ya posted. Thnx everyone.

Ok, just got off the phone w/the guy I bought it from. He had owned the car from 30k miles up until I bought it at 130,100. The car was bone stock when he got it. Said he was very meticulous about maintenance, always ran mobil one oil, STP fuel treatment evey oil change as well as ProLong. This type of maintenance show someone really took car of their ride and it probably helped w/the strength of the engine.

Oh, when I bought the car all it had was a BBK catalytic H pipe Borla cat back UD pulies KN air filter, and gears. Dyno'd @216HP.

I added the cold air NEW UD pullies, short belt bypassing smog pump and off road H,,that's it. Well, other than the suspension mods.

Default 95 stock 5.0

Hello,

I am the previous owner of Wade's car.

I have been part of the same mustang club as Wade and in touch with him regularly since the sale. I have also witnessed the car dyno at one of our meets and raced him 3 times at the track he mentions.

His car has:

CAI
Pulleys
(short belt when he puts it on)
Timing set at 14 degrees BTDC (initial)
MSD Blaster Coil
New factory distributor with factory cap and rotor
New Performance Wires
Shorty Headers
O/R
Borla Cat Back
3.73's
155 LPH fuel pump with new fuel filter
King Cobra Clutch

That is it other than his subframe connectors, lowering springs, and Nitto's....

The car even has the factory screen still covering the MAF unless he removed it.

The car is bone stock and I know this because I had a bone stock

93 LX - 19K
94 GT - NEW
this 95 GT
and my brother still has a stock 95 GT except for pulleys, filter, and 2 chambers...

The heads have never been off the car. They are the stock E7TE's. Nothing has ever been ported.

The car does well due to decent traction, good gearing, and a ton of HP out of the hole.

I have:

4.10's
O/R
Dynomax
Pro 5.0 Shifter
275/40 Kuhmo's
Hypertech Tune
K & N

and haven't beaten Wade at the track yet. My best time has been a 9.1 at 80.3.

I raced (in the GT) a friends 98 Cobra with Bassani X, intake, and 275's and beat him from a dig and from a roll. Won 8 out of 10 against that Cobra. Lost twice due to bald 245's on the street vs new 275's.

Sorry to post such a long response - but that car is running on all stock parts and they are all the original parts except the distributor. Stock water pump, timing chain, valve springs = everything.

It has good spark, fuel delivery, and combination of parts to get it into the 8's and it did dyno the numbers he is posting as I was there and witnessed them.

BTW, My car put down 292.4 RWHP before the hypertech tune at 6250. Haven't dyno'd it since the tune.

If Wade has so much torque and good traction why is he running high 8's.
Maybe it's the 3.73's? I had a set and ditched them for 4.30's. I don't know much about the 5.0's other than they run out of steam at the top end if they are stock. Sounds as if he has got great return for his investments on mod's so far. I wish my heap would have picked up those kind of hp numbers for the obscene amount of money my crappy bolt on's have cost. Get him some slicks and steeper gears and let'r rip.
Oh and get the Cobra going man, you can't be losing to a bolt on pushrod car.
You gotta beef up the rear get some sticky tires and 4.56's then launch at 6,000.

It's fun racing the old owner of the car. If the track wouldn't have been so busy we had wanted to switch cars so he could drive his old car and I could try the 99Cobra. Would really suck if he beat my time. I'd love to scoop up some old wheels and throw some slicks on it just to see what happens. Problem is, the 1/4 mile track is about an hour away and I really dont want to break something after dumping the clutch at high rpm and then trying to figure out how im gonna get home. Just wish I could get consistent w/my launch technique.

this car was the best ebay purchase I have ever made!!!!!!!!

Now that you are in the 9s, you have to break the 8s. Its an ongoing cycle...

Default Vid of Wade

http://www.tbmustangs.com/forums/sho...5&page=3&pp=10

It is Video #24 and you need to click on the "video" link in the EDIT section. This was Wade's second run under 9.0 = 8.97!!!

(Wade - you can see that both wheels are peeling during your burnout)

My vid is #1 = 9.4 = sux with all the wheel hopping off of the line. I had a slow shift to third on that run as well.

No more runs for me until I get an IRS brace.
