I'm Drag Strippin' This Friday
I'm going to the drag strip this Friday with some Mustang friends. I've only taken the GT to the strip once before when I first got it. I really don't know how to launch the car. I either spin or bog. I averaged a 2.3 60' with my v6 mustang, I couldn't do much better in the GT last time. I can't remember my best E/T from last time, I probably barely broke the 14s. I can shift like a bat outta hell though. With as stiff as the suspension is, I would be happy with mid 14s.

I will NEVER launch my car, no idea why. :/

Nah man, you should see 13's with your car.. Just play with the launch, like Dustin said somewhere between 3k & 4k. I ran a 13.5 the one and only time I've run the 1/4 and I was braking through the end of the traps trying not to break out.

It just takes time and practice Grasshopper, you pretty much have your car setup for AutoCross dont you? Did you spin a bunch with a hard launch?
You should see some mid to high 13's I would've thought

What don't you get?

So basically, what I think I need to do is slip the clutch as I'm taking off the line, and work out what RPM works best to launch from. That is going to be hard for me because my clutch pedal has all of 4" of travel, 2" of that is probably capable of letting the clutch slip. It seems the clutch is either on or off with the way I have it set up.

I did about as well as I thought I would, mid-14s. I just can't launch for crap. I swear I'm faster on the street. I went with a friend that had some MT ET streets (or some kind of sticky tire like that) and even if he got the launch on me I pulled him in by the end of the quarter, didn't beat me all night. He has 3:73 gears, midpipe and catback, shifter, CAI, pulleys, and those sticky tires and couldn't beat me. Needless to say, he needs the dragstrip driver mod more than I do. He also broke his diff. and rear axle on the last run.
I tried to slip the clutch as much as I could be even after the '60 and the clutch was fully engaged, in the high of the rpm range the tires would spin until I shifted or let out a bit.

I really should. Although my E/T was slow, my mpg looks pretty good when compared to WNRacing's 13.5 @ 100 mph run. Two miles per hour might be a huge difference, I'm not sure, but that makes my 98 mph not look so bad.

I've only made it out to the 1/4 that one time because it's over an hour away.
