Talking Street Tire pressure and horrible 60' times!!

so, i was getting the car ready for the track today and thought i would check my tire pressure. 35-37 lbs on all 4 corners!! i was pissed. my last day at the track i couldnt get a 60' time to save my life, best was a 2.4 and now i know why. all the damn tires are 5-7lbs overinflated!! needless to say im bringing my tire gauge with me this time and i expect much better results.

just a tip for those who dont already know this.....

hot air expands. so...if youre driving a long distance to the track, the heat from the road, and friction from driving can actually increase your tire pressure. always bring a tire gauge with you to the track so you can correct it before your first pass. just make sure to stop and get air before the long drive home! learn from others mistakes

Yeah checking my tire pressure is the first thing i do when i get to the track. And i figured everyone else did the same too.

I drop my rear tires to 20 pounds. And add/remove as necessary.

werent you the guy with the 2.4 - 2.7 60 foot times complaining the car wasnt running what it should?

20lbs of air and still such bad 60s....hmmmm.....guess i know how far NOT to drop the tire pressure

What are you talking about, if you are referring to my thread about disapointing track times, i ran 2.0 60 foots on street tires. My best run i actually ran a worse 60' time which was 2.1.

Everything was fixed, and squared away by the way.

wow man, really. lol

hmmm....first off....i ASKED if you were the guy. obviously i was mistaken. thats all you needed to say. i check out alot of different forums and i had you mistaken for somebody else. but since you decided to be a dipshit about it, lets point a few things out......

EVERY response in your thread about "disappointing track times" was about getting your 60 foot times down. yet now here you are defending them.

everything was not "fixed and squared away" when you ran those times or you wouldnt have posted it. they are fixed and squared away now, good luck in your NEXT test runs.

last but not least, and this is more of a heads up than anything. if you're gonna have joker and the whole "why so serious" motif going here, you should maybe heed some of your own advice. its a web forum, nothing more. if you cant take a playful jab every once in a while without lashing out and calling people names youre gonna do nothing but soil what little credibility you have to begin with.

so yeah, now youve got a reason to call me an ***. and to think i was gonna apologize for my mistaken identity...

you want your front tires to be around 40 PSI at the track and in the rear street tires usually like 20-22 PSI. i have cut 1.8's with eagle gatorbacks so its possible to get sub 2.x 60's. i run my drag radials at 14-15 PSI usually after the burn out and pass down the 1/4 my pressure is usually around 16-17 in each tire.

i think the drag racing sticky has a lot of good info in it, check it out if its still there.

You made a thread, i responded. You then decided to try and call me out and say my advice wasn't correct because I was the guy who had shitty 60 foot times. I then, corrected you, and called you an *** for not getting your facts straight. I defended my 60' times because a 2.0 is alot different than a 2.4 or whatever you said.

Little credibility? I've been here a bit longer than you have, and have contributed more. You don't know me, so before you burn your bridges shut your mouth.

You are in fact an *** because I was very nicely trying to help you out, considering you were running your tires at 35 lbs and wondering why you were running shitty times.

no you werent, you were being a condescending jerk, not nicely offering advice. oh, and heres some more info for you, i didnt ask for any advice! surprise!! i simply realized there was a problem and posted about it for some of our less experienced racers so it doesnt happen to them. i knew what my problem was, i fixed it, i didnt come here looking for answers. i was simply sharing my experience with others. i wasnt wondering why i had shitty times, when i saw the tires were overinflated i knew why right away. reading comprehension for the win ? if you dont like what i type, dont reply, simple as that.

Okay don't consider it advice, consider it a suggestion, which you questioned. Advice for the less experienced huh, if you had ANY experience wouldn't of you checked the tire pressure? Whatever, no ones going to win.
