Default Disapointing Track Times

On Street Tires.

R/T - .048
60' - 2.105
330 - 6.004
1/8 - 9.128
MPH - 78.92
1000 - 11.818
1/4 - 14.114
MPH - 98.41

I pretty much couldn't break that in the 3 passes i had. That was the best one. I feel as if i was losing so much power later in the race. I don't know if theres an issue but it was just very frustrating. I felt as if i had so much in the first 3/4 of the race and just lost it all at the end. Top end was just horrible for some reason.

UGH.

Well it is hot out (assuming it was there) and that kills et. What mods do you have?

were you at atco?
are you power shifting at all?
did you mess with tire pressure at all?
you are hooking pretty decent with street tires but you can cut a 1.9-2.0 60 with some practice.

i found some of my old slips from 2004 before i put gears in the car and i was running 101 MPH with times ranging from 13.8 to 14.1 all my 60fts were 2.3. this was at atco in december though in some cold dense air. as the night went on my 60fts dropped to 2.0 and i was running 13.5 and 13.6.

just get some practice plus your car is pulling timing on the top end because its hot as ***** in summer.

Yes i was at Atco last night.
I have an automatic.

Current mods to the car are
70mm accufab throttle body/plenum
steeda cold air intake
bassani catted xpipe
bassani cat back
eibach pro kit
tokico shocks/struts
custom brenspeed 93 octane tune
my street tires are goodyear eagle f1's 275's. i ran at 25 psi, then 20 psi.

I feel as if im losing all power top end wise. The car will be pulling hard up until 3rd gear or so. It feels like it just gives out. I have a ticking sound so i'm thinking maybe its the injector. I made 3 passes and everytime i went 98 miles per hour. Maybe i'm hitting running out of injector top end? Could this cause it to hit the limiter? The other day i was getting on it and when it went to shift at WOT it started to whine really bad. Ugh.

98 mph is really low for those mods. My car trapped 101mph with just a H-pipe,dumps,cai,drag radials. Your not running out of fuel with your mods unless an injector is failing.

whats your car shifting at?

i had mine shifting at 5800 then bumped it to 6k and did pretty well...

are you launching off of idle or are you brake stalling.

top end sucks on our cars it always seemed like it stops pulling in 3rd gear.

if you still have your stock wheels put them back on because they are light as **** i ran my fastest times with the ugly 5 stars on 245/45 tires LOL.

With your mods shifting at 5,500-5,600rpms would be best. I got my best times from 6k in first, then 5,500rpms ruffly every other gear. Wait his is auto? then the mph isnt to bad but still low. What was the temps that day?

The temps were about 80 degreesish. It was at night.

I think i should shift lower but i'm almost positive my injector is failing. I had a bad tick and its still there but just not as loud since i changed out my plugs. A mechanic told me it was an injector.

Is there any way to see if you have a bad injector? Any way?

my car injectors make a ticking sound i heard the other day and i remember this thread and got a little paranoid until i got on the dyno and saw that my tune was still in the 11.5-11.8 A/F ratio range

dont know what to tell you about testing a injector.

Well, the mods you have are good for about 3 tenths. The 03 cobra wheels, 275 tires, and eibach pro kit aren't helping you. The car has 13.90's in it if you drop your 60' a little. You should be able to get it at like 2.0 with the auto. Overall, the car is where it should be.

You didn't mention that you had 4.10's. With 4.10's traction may be an issue, but with your bolt ons and 4.10's 13.60's should be possible.

I could definitely improve my 60' foot time but i ran 14.1 at 98 5 times in a row. Traction isn't much of an issue, i hooked pretty well for street tires. I'm definitely shifting too high but i also know one of my injectors is failing. I've been diagnosed this problem, just have to get around to do it.

I'm probably just going to get rid of the car eventually. Get an 08 GT or 03-04 cobra or something. Start off new, have a warranty, and go from there.

thats a decent time for an automatic bolt on GT.

its street tires...cant do **** with them. i was pulling 13.7@115 on street tires with 365rwhp...buy urself a set of drag radials and see those times go down!

I had Brenspeed send me a new tune that shifts at 5,800. I tried it out and its still shifting above 6k. WTF? Should i ask them to send it again or is there a problem?

Anyone have a suggestion for shift points on an automatic with the following mods?

FRPP 4.10's
70mm accufab throttle body/plenum
steeda cold air intake
bassani catted xpipe
bassani cat back
eibach pro kit
tokico hp shocks/struts
xcal2-brenspeed 93 octane tune
goodyear eagle f1's 275/40/17s. street tires.

with the stock tune, stock shift points, i ran consistent 13.5's in the quarter. i also had less mods way less mods. try your stock tune and see what happens?

i dont think its a decent time because your miles per hour is too low. i ran 101-102 stock gears and after 3.73's were installed i ran 104-105. i'm thinking the weather had a big factor in this thats why you werent running faster times.

3.73s will pull more MPH, but sacrifice ET. his low MPH is reflective of the 4.10s. quicker acceleration, meaning youre getting through the 1320 quicker and thusly dont have as much time to pull the MPH.

my opinion, figure out whats up with the ticking. if its an injector, order a new set, (next higher lb injector if it were me) and get a new tune.

when you got the new tune, how did you upload it? did you reset the computer or just overright the old tune?

Curious. Taking out the spare tire, jack, etc. Does that do anything for me at this point?

reducing weight is good anytime you do it. pulling the spare tire and jack should be good for about 35-50 lbs. not gonna notice a big difference, if any at all, but every little bit helps.

every hundred pounds can cut a tenth off your times. Drop the passenger seat and rear seat too and you'll be into the 13's.

Your launch is killing your time too. Try to get that down to 1.8 seconds or so.

Yeah i plan on it. Probably heading back to the track in 2 weeks or so.

I won't take out the seats seeing as i drive it everyday but i will take out the spare tire and jack.

Eh a little update. Was at Atco tonight, had about 4 passes, all relatively the same. Can't hook for **** on street tires.

R/T - .039
60' - 2.109
330 - 5.838
1/8 - 8.886
MPH - 80.09
1000 - 11.543
1/4 - 13.798
MPH - 100.31

Getting a set of drags ASAP.

Ha. No matter how i tried to launch it i couldn't hook. I hate going over the water box at Atco. Sucks for street tires.

I was spinning for almost entirely first gear.

try easing into the peddle off idle until you see 1500-1800 rpms and then mash it down. i had to play around with my technique after i put in 3.73 gears. with stock gears i could flash the converter and get almost no spin off the line.

So your saying don't floor it during takeoff? But sort of walk it through? How the hell do you flash the converter, and/or know when your doing it? hahahaha

yeah dont floor it on take off or you will have a spin fest behind you. flashing the converter is when you floor the peddle off idle...the stock converter will flash around 2k and lock up and then lots of tire spin.
