if i spent $20,000 to rebuild a motor in a $27,000 car, i could beat cobras all day long too. sh*t, if i had $20,000, i could smash that evo with anything (after a nice motor swap). i hate ppl who are like "oooo, take that domestics!" in these stupid movies. i bet a turbo 4 banger mustang could beat that evo, if it had the same work done to it ...

I saw another vid of that same Evo running 42psi on the dyno and it keeps up with bikes all day. I forgot exactly what numbers he put down but im thinking around 900awhp. In that vid he was pushing more than 30psi. Its an old vid but I love watching it. I love fast cars but it just makes me sick to see so many cobras getting killed out there.

That GT35 @40psi has a vicious spool up. It would take a turbo cobra to even keep up.

yea, you like how it said like 601 AWHP at 30 psi ... and he was running "~33 psi," which is, ummmm, MORE POWER. i mean, no crap he beat them. he had the same hp at the wheels with less boost, then to up it for the race (can u say trying to make the video in his favor?)

I guess Brian Ballard's Cobalt doesn't count either....

Okay he doesn't drive on it the street, but its street legal, has tags and plates and they have driven it on the street -

http://hometown.aol.com/sxebrian/xxxracing.html

It went low 10's in a shakedown run with the window sticker in it still.

Its ran 9.45 without wheelie/traction bars.

GM has a book and if you do most of the work yourself, you can repeat it with a $14,000 brand new Cobalt with another $15K-20K into it. Considering Cobalt sedans will be showing up on Enterprise Used Car lots pretty soon, it could be done cheaper.

Can't compacts and V8's get along? I swear, I enjoy both and respect anything fast, including that GMC 2500 Diesel truck I saw run 12.3's all day long on Sunday, when I could only manage mid 14's with the heat making the computer pull crazy timing from the car and drop my boost down about 2psi from peak.

We all can take sides, but give respect and enjoy this hobby, it doesn't have to be so hostile all the time...

We had a Evo 8 on our dyno a couple months ago making 800+ AWHP and the guy takes it out on the street and tries to get races with it. It doesnt make good for a daily driver but a good weekend fun car. Last weekend my buddy and I took out his 730FWHP turbo civic and tried to get some idiots to run it but they wouldnt dare mess with it when they herd it breaks traction in 4th gear on M/T's.
