There is this guy thats talkin smack about my friends cobra. He has a neon srt-4 and my friend has an 01' cobra. Both cars are stock and the cobra does NOT have the supercharger.. I was just wandering what you guys might know about a race like that? I dont know very much about the neon srt-4s....

cobra there is no questions assuming he can drive its a low 13 sec on street tires stock. neons are low 14sec cars stock.

 

i got beta by an srt-4...he was def modde tho

an srt-4 with stage 3 upgrades is pretty sick tho, but since its stock them im goin witht he cobra, if the srt4 had a stage 3 and the cobra was supercharged then ill still go witht he cobra

 

you guys are seriously underestimating srt-4's with upgraded crap..and one day your gonna pull up to one, bet money...then lose

Stock n/a Cobra all day long!

There is a problem though and you have to consider the different power plants in the car. From a highway speed roll, the Cobra is going to have a tougher time.

If I am not misstaken, the Neon traps at a higher speed then the Cobra in question eventhough the Cobra has the quick ET if you are looking at 1/4 mile times. BUT, run from a roll and there may be a range where the SRT is quicker.

 

Stock for stock the cobra will win. If the srt has a boost controller you dont know about....your screwed! also make sure you run it from a stop and not roll otherwise it's the neons race!

 

If I can jump to a 5 car lead from a dig on one a Cobra should slay it.They don't impress me at all.

 

lance, from a stop yea you should jump away from it but what i was saying is make sure the race is dead stop and not a roll. Most turbo cars suck from a dig but get up and go on a roll where they are already boosting.

 

I dont know about this one...IF the srt is completely stock, the cobra will own. But if theat skittle has a boost controller on it, which is very easy to hide, the neon should have a good chance. Make sure you take a look under his hood to make sure its stock. There are stock turbo srt-4s running low 12 sec 1/4 miles. Not to mention that skittles are monsters from a roll. If he has an upgraded turbo, you will get murdered bad. I know a guy with a 400+whp srt-4 that I watched beat a ported eaton cobra.

 

I've beaten many "STOCK" SRT-4's at the track, before I had my 4:10's and after them I beat him by about 6 cars... They are hard to drive because they are FWD and they don't get traction with Street Tires.....

 

9 out of 10 FWD turbo cars suck from a dig, unless they are on a drag tire.

I raced another one from a 20 mph roll and pulled hard away from him but it was'nt stock.He was catching me by 4th gear when I let off.Then he did the Ricer fly bye.I caught up with him a little later and told him that his car was pretty quick for a Neon

 

Most of them just put a cone filter on and a different bypass valve and they sound nasty...but they really arent. We did a Dyno day with nothing but srt4's and stock ones were only at 240ish whp. Now we did have a couple that were heavily modded they were 390whp with Mopar stage 3 upgrades!! One was a complete sleeper besides a bigger front-mount and it peaked 412whp. You cant under estimate them at all.

 

yea and a 400whp car thats only what, 2500lbs? If thats right then it should stay with a 500whp car thats 3600lbs.

 

yea i think they are close to 3k lbs. Still that 400hp neon i watched beat a mach1 with full exhaust, k&n intake, and a tune on a 175shot! they went from a 2nd gear roll to benefit the neon since the mach1 was on a drag tire vs. him on a falken tire.

 

Damn!!!:surrender 175 shot on a MACH1 and still lost too the neon!!

Stock is such a relative term too. Heck I know a bunch of streetracers who's cars launch on the bumper on the streets and they're cars are "stock".
Run it and see, never underestimate your enemy.
