Default Tired of Evos Launching on mE!

OK ive decided the rearend needs an upgrade badly......... I am on stock gears and tires with a 350 tread rating. Now all my friends have the M/T ET Streets on their cars, and they hook like crazy! These guys are getting 1-2+ car jumps on me from the takeoff......but they ALL have gears too! So even after they get the jump on me, I cant keep up with the damn gears! When I spray the car against them, I end up passing them by in 2nd gear but were just racing 1/8th mile! My car sucks from a dig apparantly. I have been cutting 2.2 60fts but I think im am getting alot better.....

I want the tires but will they break my rear? The other guys have been launching about 3000-4000rpm on theirs every weekend with no problems. I launch about 2700 and its been working out. I got beat by an 05 GT with ALL the bolt ons and those drag radials. Its only because I cant get traction!:wallbash: I am gonna buy an engine here this week I think and then Ill put some tires on it. They all have the 275/40/17s, but someone told me you get better contact patch with the 245s on the stock wheels???

Also, I ended up getting beat by a 550whp Evo w/30psi and spray.......Then, on motor by a bolt on GT with 3:73s and D/Rs......Then by a stock brand new Sti (yes the ugly one) and this is all because my car sucks from a dig.......If they ever had organized roll racing, Id be the first in line.......

Dont feel bad losing to a 550awhp Evo, I saw a 600hp Cobra get ripped by one. The Cobra was on a ET street too. As for losing to the STI...they are an 1/8 mile car, you would run him down in the 1/4. Most AWD cars with a good driver will jump away on the launch even if you are on tire, but it wont be as bad.

I got the 275's and theres 11" of tread on the ground @ 15psi and hook great launching at 4k. Best of all i'm on a stock rear, and a stage 3 clutch and havent had any problems yet. I wouldnt go as far as getting M/T ET streets unless your puttin out 400+, but thats my opinion.

Why do you think they are 1/8 mile cars. They trap around 106+
Get some dr's and they wont be leaving on you anymore. I ran a evo the last time I was at the track and smoke him, .058 light with a 1.74 60" and went a 12.31@111, He only had a 1.93 60" and went a 13.03@108. On motor he would have beaten me but he still would have not 60" with me.

Whatever tire size you get, match the wheel and you will get max contact patch: 245/45 17X8, 275/40 17X9, 315/35 17X10.5. The rim MUST be close to the tread size or you will have unused tread on the outer edges. Why do you think my 2nd set of 275's went on 17X9's?
