I would look into a dyno and road test tune. A canned tune from SCT is good but on a automatic each car is different. And yes if the tune was for a stock geared car and you are running 4.10's then it will make a difference. I had a superchips unit and programmed mine for my gears so the speedo was correct but it would short shift like a **** at the track plus the lock up schedule was way off. You want it to lock up immeadiately after it shifts. If your car is shifting short you will lose time and trap speed.

For every .10 you drop off your sixty foot you will drop .20 off your quarter mile time.
Example if you ran a 2.0 60' and 13.50 - then dropped to a 1.8 60' you would run 13.10

Tranny cooler is easy, all you need is a tubing wrench. B&M has a great one from summit. From all the threads I have read if you do get one, get the one with stacked plates. I am waiting on mine to come in, will try to take some shots of the install for you. I installed the summit fin type on my '67 and the whole install took less than half an hour. Works great because I am up at Hot August Nights with it all the time and have no heating issues.
