SCT Vs. Diablo
OK, so im ready to buy a tuner.
Ive been reading over each one and i am trying to decide which is best for me, Diablo, or SCT.
First off I dont really have internet access, i mess around on here at work when it is slow, so i dont have the ability to download new tunes.
Im looking at each, The Diablo mentions it has speedometer correction capabilitys for installation of new gears and tires. I dont see that in the SCT. Can the SCT do this???
I dont know jack crap about AF, fuel adjustment points, shift pressure, or almost any of this stuff. How do i learn the proper way to use this stuff? Does it come with a good GT tune? kinda, plug and play?
The SCT wants to know my computer code, what is this?
Basically, i want the easiest to use. I want to get a little extra power (i dont mind running premium at all) and i want flexability.
Also, Question on Performance Tunes, there is a place here called Mile High Dyno that i wanna check out, they are closed so i cant ask, but if i get a performance tune from them do they use MY tuner and tweak it? Or will they use thier own **** on it?
I am seriously leaning to diablo as that seems more common here in colorado, but a lot of people say SCT is better.
I wanna order it tonight. So. Help me out peoples. Im not a hard core gear head, in fact, i was not even into cars untill i bought my whip, so my knowledge of tuning is amature at best to non-existant.
Oh yeah, All i got performance wise are springs, K&N FPIK, X-pipe and Straights. I have 4:10's sittin on my table waiting to be installed, probably have the gears in in a couple weeks

You cant go wrong with either. Both of them can correct the speedometer when you swap out your gears. I'd say just use the one that your local dyno uses. If they use diablo, then get the predator and vice versa. Hope that answers your question.

I still have to say SCT. When you get the gears, have the sct sent with the 4:10 calibration because I dont know about you, but I dont switch gears every weekend, so I think youll be ok. As far as the shifts and stuff, of course thats for the automatics, and personally, I think youll get a lot more power out of the SCT than the diablo. Everyone I know that has gotten the Predator has sold it and gone with SCT, its just a better fitting setup for a persons car, as it is custom burnt to your car. And if you get something changed, I know you said you dont have internet at home, lol but the Xcal2 is small, you Im sure you could sneak it in with you to work...*wink wink About the computer code, I dont know about that.

Yes, SCT can do the gears changes on the 99+ models, as the speedometer is controlled by the PCM.
If Mile High uses SCT to tune, then yes, they use your tuner. They would use their software and capabilities to dyno tune it, get the tune basically perfect, then use your tuner to communicate with the PCM to install the created tune. So, if they use SCT, you will need the flasher.
SCT has forums for help if you have any questions as far as tweaking the tune once you get it, regarding your concerns of understanding AF, timing, shift points, etc, etc. You will be adjust to only a small number of parameters compared to the number you can control with SCT's Pro Racer Package, which is normally about $300-$400 more than a standard flasher package, which gives you 100% control over your PCM. If you don't have much knowledge already and don't really have time to learn, then obviously its not for you. But, either your dealer or SCT can help you with any problems. I have been 100% satisfied with the customer service I have received from SCT. If you get it dyno tuned, it won't matter if you understand it or not anyway because you shouldn't have to change anything until you make another major mod.
Hope all this helps. I have no experience with Diablo, but I would say that you would not be disappointed with SCT.

I dont have experience using the diablo but ive got the SCT Xcal 2. I really like it and you can adjust your own stuff through it, and they also have a free SCT program where you can get in and change it through a program and add it to your Xcal 2.
im happy with mine.
